I Agree. I am caught up with manga and from time to time I watch the anime when there is a good episode animated but having a new One Piece anime is great. Any new One piece content I appreciate it. Fewer stories have such respect from outside of the manga industry than One Piece. Netflix put the effort in making something decent and respected the original and now another Studio is trying to reach a wider Audience. It puts into perspective the caliber of Oda's work. Globally One Piece has become one of the most popular shows. Cannot wait to see Mihawk vs Zoro with a modern touch. The original will always be iconic but its good to have more things

The animation probably won't be as great as in AOT simply because of the length of One piece, there will be A LOT to work on, and even if "The One Piece" will be cut on seasons, it won't be enough to reach the same heights. Although I do think that it is going to be superior to the old one

The fun part about the remake, is that you can experience One Piece again. I can't wait to watch marineford arc again with the new sound design. True One Piece fans never get tired of One Piece because of Oda's recontextualisation of the story, where you can find new tidbits of information pointing to some significant plot development in some of the latest parts. I just hope that the remake will stick to the original manga panels because some of the scenes are overextended and cause slow pacing.

in parts of wano the manga left a lot of things out that the anime pieced in that made it better. The manga of wano felt like a drag to read where as the anime was more entertaining to watch than it was to read. and everyone i talk with the series about felt the same as me on that. I agree that a remake is necessary. I watched one piece till the Dressrosa arc. Then I started to read the manga of Dressrosa. But after I read a few chapters I watched it in the anime...and what I ended up doing was: "skipping the intro, skipping the recap, skipping through extended dialogue, skipping extended reaction shots, skipping the endings, skipping the preview." Basically I had my finger on the the right keyboard button all the time. I watched a 30min episode in 7minutes give or take. Because the rest was filler. And half way the Wano arc i only watched a few scenes from the anime. Because although the animation got better...the pacing got worse. Wano is already a freaking long manga arc. So the anime feels like it takes forever. So yeah it is very much needed

Modernizing in this case means better pacing and animation. They indeed should not change the content itself,. Keep it as it is. (16:9) When you display an old 4:3 video onto a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor or tv, you can't fit it perfectly... 4:3 becomes 12:9 when you go full screen but that still leaves 4 units of horizontal space to fill to get to 16. So instead of stretching the image horizontally and making it out of proportion, black vertical bars are added to the left and right sides of the video to fill the remaining space.

If they were, the image would be out of proportion. 4:3 animation is simply displayed with vertical black bars on the left and right sides to fill the remaining space of 16:9 monitors/tvs and fills 100% of the verticle screen space and 75% of the horizontal space. (12.5% on each side is black bars)

MY fiance an I started one piece right around the live action release and were 600 episodes in. As much as we love the show so far, we've definitely hit a wall of burnout. As much as I've enjoyed it so far, its basically become a chore to watch instead of something fun to do together. I REALLY want to catchup before the anime ends and I'm pretty sure we will, but itll be cutting it close. A new version of the anime to fix this exact problem were running into would make me want to rewatch it again at our own pace and not have to feel the slog of slow boring episodes randomly thrown in

Actually the filler is less than the 10% I once counted in comparison with manga material is really low, lis 105 episodes, that include the summary episodes that came once in a while, bue the low pace in episodes of canon mateiral is big, right now I think they are animating like half or 3/4 of a manga chapter

The pacing issue was my biggest concern going into the most recent arc because the anime is only a year's worth of content away from reaching the current point in the manga. ~50 episodes. And I'm sure the staff at Toei have been aware of this for much longer than I have. Some numbers for proof: Toei adapts a chapter an episode (give or take a few panels). The latest episode was 1112. That was adapted from Chapter 1079. The latest chapter is 1121. There are only 42 chapters, and by extension ~42 weeks, between the current episode and the current chapter. With 52 weeks in a year? That's scary.

I doubt Wit Studio gonna keep any filler arc. They mostly don't add filler arc and only sometimes change or add some scene from the manga (due to censorship, a little anime only additions or the ep direction). Full filler arc wont happen.

As much as I like the filler arcs, I'm 100% sure they won't include them. Their original purpose was to prevent the anime from catching up to the manga, and that's not an issue here. (The only one that has a silver of chance is G8, given its immense popularity amongst the fans.) But hey, let's hope they adapt the cover stories. They could serve as a nice wind-off from the main storyline.

I also hope they let the anime slow down at times to give scenes the time they need to learn about and focus on events. I don’t know if it’s possible, but if they could make room after the end of some episodes for filler to still be considered canon, or at last head cannon, I’d love to see movie reanimations of fillers, like warship island, and I really hope they just don’t skip G8

People that I know who have watched the live action version have said they loved it enough that they would watch the anime, but won’t because of how long it is. On one hand I love that people who would have never given the anime a chance will finally get to watch it, but on the other hand their experience will be missing out on a lot of great moments and time spent with the straw hats. Even One Pace cuts tons of great anime-only moments, but I appreciate their honest attempt to replicate the manga 1:1. I expect the new One Piece to go even further and even obliterate the manga. Just like the live action adaptation, I bet a lot of people who would have rated One Piece as "Great" if they had only gotten off their butt and pushed the play button on the original, will only come away from the new One Piece as thinking its simply "good". But damn, the animation might look pretty cool anyways.

im actually fine w/ the phasing specially the newer arcs (wano and egghead) because they add scenes that is actually relevant and helps building up emotions and also elaborates fight scenes (they are having fun making fun of sanji sometimes tho 😅). The only arc that I hated the phasing is dressrosa.. because it's too much, even I watch it in 2x speed the reaction of the characters will be stock in 5 seconds, too much flashback and the recap took 1/4 of the episode and many things they do to drag it out. The story is good, doflamingo is a great villain but I just lost patience while watching it

I am looking forward to this and I have seen OG one piece, been watching since I was a kid. I am a little behind because the pacing in Dressrosa was so bad. It wouldn't end. Plus all the in between filler like "cinematic" shots and what not just dragged the episodes, that's why I stopped watching it weekly. I do intend to catch up, especially since I've seen the current animation and art style, but I am really looking forward to "The One Piece".

I'm not at all confident about that because yes it may be cut a grand total of like 120 episodes of the anime by doing some better pacing and removing fillers (even though for an anime of the size of One piece the amount of pillar is ridiculous low compared to like like something of Naruto) But the director of which studio has gone on record saying he wanted to introduce AI to the animation of THE piece And Sims adamant about it and that's it is not about to fly

I'd liked to see a manga accurate storyline. Like Where Luffy and Koby meet, Story bits in the right order like with Gaimon, No filler durring arcs like with Loguetown and Alabasta. I also have this idea that they should have parts of the cover stories between the credits and the previews.

While i love them reproducing the anime with better pacing, i do fear that they might cut things from the source to further speed up pacing. And i do hope they'll adapt more or all of the coverstories into anime. Hey, maybe even make some anime original content where it fits in with the story from the manga volume SBS sections

4:3 is often better from an artistic POV tho More detailed more dramatic shots can be used A lot of digital era 16:9 anime suffers from empty space all over and boring framing (compared to the manga) that could've been made better by the 4:3 aspect format

Sure it will be great. Im really old, so I grew up with... ...Star Blazers.... So the 2012 remake/improvement was a real treat. One piece doesnt even need to be "improved" story wise, it will be great for the fans. I raised my sons on one piece and they absolutely love the idea, even though we've watched and caught up with the whole thing together. Theres a few things I think will be lost...I still think the original anime scene of Nami's "Luffy, help me" scene in Japanese is the best version of that scene. Also, not all the fillers were bad, and I dont really like the idea of "the manga is always superior" though this is generally true especially for One Piece, not every great anime needed a Manga.

Honestly I don't mind that One Piece is getting a reboot. I'm currently watching One Piece with my son and although he's enjoying the anime, it is slow going (we're currently on the Dressrosa arc). Hopefully the reboot will be more enjoyable for not just me and my son but for all One Piece fans. We've also seen the live action of One Piece and love it. Can't wait to see season two.

While I will continue to watch the OG anime, I think that the new adaptation will provide a whole new experience of the story. I'm generally in favour but it feels early to have a new adaptation before the original one has ended. I would've loved it if the new adaptation would come out when the One Piece OG anime ends to give a more modern experience. Having said that if it could still release the start of East Blue in 2025, it could very well make 2025 the best One Piece year so far.

It just doesn't make sense to make a remake and not start from the beginning. As someone who's been watching it for 2 decades~ish now, and who has seen the first 400 episodes over a dozen times from the number of times I've introduced it to friends, I love it, but it has its issues. I would watch those episodes a thousand times, but I can't recommend it to all my friends because they don't have the background that I do and I know they just couldn't do it. Pacing is truly the biggest issue, but I also want them to take a moment to expand on the little moments that the crew has where they're just being idiots or whatever because those are some of the moments you get to connect outside of the larger themes and narrative. And ideally, G8 gets reanimated as well as part of that.

I got into one peice last year. The animation did not bother me and if not it only adds to the context. One thing that could change is the openings and the extended recaps. Other then that it is an amazing anime. I know when they do remakes like they did with DBZ, it does take away from the anime. Like gohans voice and ss2 transformation.

my thing is that if they don't top the soundtrack, then theres no reason. OVERTAKEN is one of the best out and the updated "episodes of" didn't do as a good job that the original did (case in point: Episode of Nami ~ can't beat that Walk to Arlong Park with Overtaken in the background) also, the sound effects that were in Wano (and onwards) was the only time that I recall that Toei used similar sound effects. idk why the suddenly decided that it was a good idea (clearly it wasn't) but up until that point they actually had pretty good sound design from East blue to Marine Ford

I think a re edit could be really good, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood di an amazing job with theirs and is regarded as one of the best anime out there. BUT One Pace is not perfect either. its close but skips a lot of actually good anime original scenes that help expand on what the manga was trying to portray. Just because they put a little extra time into a scene in a panel doesnt always mean theyre trying to stretch for time, but yeah the pacing can be really bad at times. some episode feel like only 8-9 minutes of the episode was actual new content. I do not understand some people saying the animation was bad for "95% of the show", I just cannot take that seriously. Sure compared to JJK or the newest anime yeah pre timeskip looks a little dated at times, but it also came out from 1999-2010. Theres been massive improvements to animation quality since then. Some people are just trying to nitpick.

Yes, one pace should NEVER be a first watch through imo (except for maybe Dressrossa). Like I've seen people try One Pace from the start for East Blue and it's horrible.

I started watching the anime as soon as I finished the live action version last year. I just caught up yesterday. The pacing often had me screaming at the tv. Twenty episodes would go by and the plot hadn't moved forward at all. However, there were moments of absolute brilliance mixed in with all of that unnecessary filler. To have a remake that focuses only on what makes it so special is a great thing in my opinion. I'm excited for it!
