The ripples of fear and discrimination continue today, and it's sad. I'm a Pagan witch in the US, and I've traveled a lot in the UK, sometimes on our Pagan holidays (your bank holidays correspond to our seasonal celebrations). At those times, I would ask, sometimes at a metaphysical bookshop, sometimes on happen-chance at a pub where I might encounter like-minded individuals, if there were any celebrations going on at local stone circles, etc, that we could attend. There was a very tight lipped reaction that I would get, which is very different from here in the US, which is like come on in, the more the merrier. And the flavor of celebrations is usually much louder, more ecstatic in the US than in the UK. I can't help but think that it's been these centuries of trauma that has made things more reserved and closed for Witches and Pagans in the UK. It's also cost prohibitive for many Pagan clergy in the UK to perform ceremonies like weddings and funerals in the UK, whereas in the US, the government doesn't discriminate by religion for officiants. Sometimes it tries, but the law isn't on their side, and they lose every time. With the threat of religious fascism rising though, there are some groups who are closing down in the US. It's definitely frightening.

By the 1700's women came to the English throne. Maybe, that contributed to this horror ending as well as the expense.

He actually became king after the first female rulers of England died. He was the heir of queen Elizabeth the first who had no children of her own and who had been made his protector by his mother Mary queen of Scots before her execution

@shirleymarie2288 Yes. I know. I meant Queen Mary w William and then Anne in the 1700's, Post Restoration...as in some women returned to the throne. I should've put it that way, "returned".

Why do British women have deeper voices than British men??? Just curious. Not offense meant

Is the question about why is it that 100% of British women having deeper voices than 100% of British men, or is it the question about % of British women having deeper voices than % of British men is greater than the % of women having deeper voices than % of men that you've met, and if so what is that percentage of the above cases so that a comparison can be made and thus an answer can be produced for the specific case. Or is it that why 0% of women that you've met has deeper voices than 0% of the men you've met.
