Witcher 3 Death March Speedrun 3h54m real time (current patch, no mutagen glitch)

Well, I could not let go and tried a RTA on death march difficulty.
I chose to compensate the 20% XP-loss with additional quests&stuff instead of fighting overlevelled opponents, that's more fun :)
Still some things went wrong and I had some unnecessary deaths, but I'm content with achieving my sub 4h goal for now.

It's consensus of the speedrun community to use a special autohotkey script for spamming rightclicks to avoid wearing out your fingers/keyboard/mouse. You can get a similar result if you spam both space and rightclick as fast as you can. Info at www.speedrun.com/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt

You can see it at 3:41:20, a sword build with rend, and heavy artillery for stronger bombs, if that's what you mean.

The Caranthir glitch can easily happen without you planning for it, not so easy to get it on purpose consistently, it's a matter of doing the right amount of damage at the right time with Ciri, then for a split second you'll see Geralt instead of Ciri (at 3:47:00), no idea what exactly is the cause. If you're unlucky you can get another variation of the glitch, where Caranthir will not stand still but fight you with melee instead of magic, this happened to me in a previous attempt.

What´s the reason/benefit to briefly go back and forth to Skellige between 32:25 and 38:44 and not doing that before 1:49:12? Thanks upfront.

It's to get the XP for Level 5, which is needed for avoiding overlevelled opponents in Novigrad and for getting enhanced grapeshot. The next gen version changes that, because overlevelled opponents were nerfed.

I was wondering why the witcher ending is faster than the bad ending. Because the current WR in any% ends with the bad ending.

On easy difficulty the bad ending is only around half a minute faster, no reason to risk it on death march, much higher chance to mess it up with probably no timesave at all, and the good ending is better anyway (maybe less action-packed ;))

I'm watching after patch 4.0 did they change the dancing star location, because it is not showing up in that spot

They changed a lot in gameplay/balancing, so it's quite a different game to play. Overall it should be easier, overlevelled opponents were nerfed and you need fewer points for skilling. But you should still be able to find the dancing star, if you do exactly the same as in the vid, it's not a fixed location, it depends on your level and such.

The UNDYING skill can get your health back, and for good bomb damage you need the HEAVY ARTILLERY skill and enhanced bomb versions.

It's not easy to get the Caranthir glitch consistently, it's a matter of doing the right amount of damage at the right time with Ciri, then for a split second you'll see Geralt instead of Ciri (3:47:00). If you're unlucky you can get another variation of the glitch, where Caranthir will not stand still but fight you with melee instead of magic, this happened to me in a previous attempt.

That's a simple Gven'nel sword bought from the blacksmith at Bald Mountain.

If you bring Eredin to 0 HP in phase 1, there is a chance phase 2 will be skipped. In my case this only works when I cap the FPS to 60 (activating vsync with a 60hz screen does the same).

To get the 280xp for the quest. XP is very important on deathmarch, as you get 20% less than in normal difficulty, and I wanted to avoid overlevelled opponents (which are very hard to kill). That's also why I go to Skellige early to get Level 5 for Novigrad and do additional Skellige quests later, there went a lot of planning into the XP-route.

Ok I’m a speed runner for The Last Of Us Part 2 and it takes about 15-20 hours to finish the story. I completed it in 5 hours. So can someone tell me how anyone can beat The Witcher 3 in less then 3 hours???? In google it says it takes 51 hours to finish the Main Story. I have been playing the game 2 weeks in a row every night and I’m still not even close. I am at the part where i met Shani and shes taking me to a wedding. Please explain

The sub 3h times are for maingame only without DLCs, there are separate runs for Hearts of Stone (where Shani is part of) in ~30min, and Blood&Wine in ~40min. Just watch the runs when you have finished your playthrough, they are usually in easy difficulty, because obviously it's faster, while a death march run takes more time.

Fast travel, dialogue skipping, and gallopping probably removes a whole lot of hours. Also, can you skip cutscenes in TLOU2 like you can in the witcher 3?
