I love the craftsmanship of the final blade. Certainly well done on that score, but isn't the blade a tad disproportionate? I mean, the lower haft seems to be a tad thing, and the pommel seem to me to be a bit disproportionately large by comparison. Also, isn't the haft a tiny bit long? I realise that this is only from the video, and that a video can skew the actual proportions a bit, but that's just my view I guess. That having been said, again, well done on the craftsmanship.
@sword_addict
@sword_addict 7 жыл бұрын
I just took many screens from the game, from different angles. Put them into the Autocad and made 1:1 project based on screens. So it is a good game replica, but it may not have a correct proportion if you compare it to a medieval long sword

It is hardened, otherwise it would not be straight after bending.The steel was quenched in oil, it is just too thin (now I make thicker swords)

Łukasz Malinowski ooh, great. You should absolutly include that part in the video. How did u correct warpage after quench?
@sword_addict

It was not warped after quenching :) I meant that at the end of the video I'm bending the sword and it is still straight. A sword that is not quenched or badly quenched would not be straight after bending

@sword_addict
@sword_addict 7 жыл бұрын
Is I remember I had quite good balance but not as good as an real sword (not designed by some nerds doing 3d graphics). When I'm maing a historical replica of an original sword, I'm contolling the point of balance, it is very important. Swords from games are designed by some guys doing 3d modeling not by hundreds of years of swords evolution. So usually swords from games do not have that good balance, and I'm always trying to make as good copy as possible so here more important were game proportions
