I loved the combat in Wither 3 so much that I always excitedly chased down whatever monsters I saw. All except for the Wraiths that is. Whenever I encountered wraiths I’d immediately start to panic, slap on specter oil, equip my crappy base level Yerden and a crap-ton of food and water. I would then proceed to flail about like a lunatic while yelling at both Geralt and the wraith for not staying in the stupid circle... God I love this game lol ;)

imo, wraiths (noon or night) are the easiest foe to encounter, but are the scariest. second scariest would be fiends and leshen (the wendigo looking creatures). now for those guys, I slap on a lot of oil and pack up lots of food xD

Love that real life version. Lay down and wait for her to pass. Basically saying simply lay down and rest. I've suffered heat stroke and can tell you it is not fun at all. I drank four liters of water within twenty minutes and then slept uninterrupted for over twenty hours. The worst head ache you could possibly imagine and intense pain in the neck and shoulders. It feels like you're dying.
@bxmully3 жыл бұрын
The neck and head pain is probably from electrolyte imbalance. Consider using an oral rehydration solution. I forget the exact ratio but it's a specific amount of sugar and salt mixed into a liter of water. This is also used to rehydrate ppl with dysentery which kills millions every year.
@ironwolg5 жыл бұрын
Honestly the idea of noon wraiths is pretty horrifying. Them and their “real” counterparts. The thing you mentioned about seeing her before she sees you and lying down very still. The idea of waiting for her to pass and hoping she doesn’t find you gives me severe anxiety lol excellent video. You do a great job explaining the lore.

Noonwraiths are definitely a surprise to me, as in most fantasy, incorporeal undead are often only seen coming out at night or lurking in dark places. A farm field at high noon is the last place I would expect to meet a specter.

in the Philippines we have creaturels like noonwraiths, they are called "white ladies". White Ladies, indigenously known as kaperosa, are popular ghost story topics in the Philippines. White Ladies are often used to convey horror and mystery to young children for storytelling. Sightings of White Ladies are common around the country. The most prominent one is the White Lady of Balete Drive in Quezon City. It is said that it is the ghost of a long-haired woman in a white dress who, according to legend, died in a car accident while driving along Balete Drive. Most stories about her were told by taxi drivers doing the graveyard shift, such as when a taxi crosses Balete Drive, and a stunning woman is asking for a ride. The cabbie then looks behind and sees the woman's face was full of blood and bruises, causing him to abandon his taxi in terror. In other instances, it is said that when solitary people drive on that street in the early morning, they briefly see the face of a white-clad woman in the rear-view mirror before she quickly disappears. Some accidents on this road are blamed on apparitions of the White Lady. Many sources have said a reporter manufactured this legend in the 1950s as a combination of multiple stories from the area. When me and my siblings were young, our parents constantly scare us about White Ladies to scare us so that we run back home, they keep tellig us not to play during "midday" and "midnight" or the white lady might get us.

This is the thing I love most about the Witcher - the story is just as much about Geralt & Co. as it is about the monsters of the world. There's so much detail and information about what you're fighting that makes the experience just amazing. It's not just another typical video game enemy, they all have extensive lore that's worked straight into the quests.

I know this is replying to an old(ish) video but... I just loved your summary of how the witcher world creates a perfect contrast between the mundane and supernatural worlds. Often many fantasy worlds either intentionally or unintentionally completely ignore the mundane in favor of the magical even though it is the mundane that gave inspiration to it! I REALLY wish more fantasy worldbuilders would pay more attention and care to the mundane, to add bits of intrigue to the lives of the not so magically adept, peasants and commoners. (to name a few) Many worldbuilders strangely assume that there's a hard stop between magicless peasants and high wizards of bla bla bla lightning bolts. (you get the idea..) When in reality it was believed that ALL manner of spirits and supernatural beings that lived among comman folk; in fact it seems most sprites, brownies and fey prefeed the rural fields and quite hamlets to the grand palaces or cold stone castles of lords and the kings. Imagen that a mere peasant farmer had more access to the magically inklind than his Lord! (though alot of it was unwanted attention..) Causally conversing with a local spirit or being viciously tormented by a malignant specter, these are things that I feel that more fantasy settings SHOULD take advantage of. This can make for some more engaging experiences; Not to mention that everyone loves a good ghost tale and some good ole'fey shenanigans. (when not on the receiving end of such pranks..) But anyway...I've always loved seeing pleasant and otherwise "no names" getting tied up in intrigue especially of the supernatural variety. Brings life to the world outside of the elite of society, a world that is more than just kings and important such and suchs. (which is usually the case in many stories but not all) And I think it's at it's best when said peasants were the cause (directly or indirectly) of the hauntings and angry nature spirits.

I first played The Witcher 3 probably five years ago, and I was terrible at it! I don't know, I guess it just didn't click for me. I loved the world, characters, and lore of it, I just could not, for the life of me, successfully play it. Yesterday, the gold version (DLC and everything) popped up in the Playstation store for $10, so I said "what the hell" and got it. For some reason, it's way easier than I remember. The Devil by the Well was impossible for me to beat before, and I had to get a friend to beat the griffin for me. I beat the wraith in about a minute and the griffin in two this time around, before the need for sleep ultimately beat me. I'm having way more fun, now, and I really look forward to exploring all this game has to offer!
