During the fight with Geralt, Vilgefortz made it clear to him about his superiority. I think V. Was more mutated than a witcher. It is clear he had such capabilities given his experiments and love of genetics

Vilgefortz wasn't mutated in any way, I think he was using magic to give himself better physicality and metal pole was conjured so it probably was lighter than it should be which gave him more maneuverability

100% this man regrew his own eye after loosing it in Book 5 (lady of the lake), he also hints to Ciri that he is going to use her unborn child's placenta to give himself the gifts of travelling through time and space that her child is supposed tobe born with. For a man that learned in genetics, enhancing his our body with mutations that make him stronger, faster and more powerfull than any witcher is child's play.

One of the greatest villains in recent fantasy, has a sense of constant lingering menace in the books I thought and then we get that, I think the actor tried but you know, he had a sword didn't he. That was his magic @ Sodden Hill, he could make swords, Vilgefortz. Can't wait for Regis. Great lore video, subscribed.

This truly helps me understand him better. A shame the series didn't portray him like here. Detailed! Though, if they did that, they'd have to make an excuse for him being beaten by Cahir.

No I always took that fight with Cahir as him “taking a fall” seeing as he kills one of the ban ard boys (or maybe jt was a sodden citzien can’t remember) right after that. He shouldn’t have any problem with Cahir if taking it seriously and not putting on a show of weakness.

because the writers hate great literature and fans of it. Rings of power went the same way. May the writers of both shows spend the rest of their lives living in discarded refrigerators, fighting rats for scraps...to purposfully deface a great work of art over jealously? Somehow blasphemous is too soft of a word.

One small point about Thanedd, Tissaia freed Vilgefortz and the Nilfgaard wizards, rather than Vilgefortz freeing himself as you say in your video. When she realized she had made a mistake in doing this, Tissaia killed herself (rightly so!)

You brushed on the reason for Vilge's defeat but kind'a missed the thematic point. It was only achieved in the end because Garalt & Yennifer worked together thus further binding their romantic & practical relationship. (Stronger together) Another semantic explanation for Emhyr's change of heart in his incestuous plans for Ciri is most likely due to his talk w/Garalt in Stygga Castle after the battle. Garalt knowing his own demise & not one to mince words w/"Duny"anyway, told him bluntly what a lowlife he'd be if he carried out his plan. I think Garalt in Emhyr's eyes is a rare sounding board for reality & he respects his judgement. Plus of course Ciri would hate him for life if he did her (father) harm. Hence their two destinies are intertwined. Emhyr isn't a dummy & realized this in that moment. Sapkowski making a comparison between Vilgefort's total loss of humanity to ambition & Emhyr retaining a scrap of decency amongst his scheming. The 'vagrant' Garalt of Rivia a role model to the most powerful man in the world even ? P.S.) Thanks for not using Netflix pictures. They show nothing but contempt for the lore.

@@OldWitcher If only we had Garalt's acute repartee during verbal sword fights, huh ? (a slightly weather worn plot device but nonetheless fun as hell to read one) to properly knock snobs down a peg in opportune moments. Awesome stuff by A.S. but leaves me wondering what in the heck happened w/Lady of the lake ? Dream weaving nymphs ?? Andrzej went off the rails from a potential masterpiece series IMO. Good fistec in Poland or something. 4th wall threatening wackiness, Immersion breaking self indulgent laziness, goofy for goofy's sake. Characters in the story debating "How to end the 'STORY'?!?" That's not charming, that's stupid. Anyway, what do you think, worth a review ? Contentious ones bring a lot of views, right ? You could title it : Did Andrzej Sapkowski have a nervous break down writing The Lady of The Lake ? Heh-heh He probably won't sue you until a million views. CDPR would know. (it'd be like the stock exchange !)

Nice video, enjoyed it a lot, thank you. But, one small thing I kind of remember different from the books is how Vilgefortz found about Ciri. If I don't remember wrong, he was the one who told Duny about Pavetta and helped him marry her, so he indirectly but purposefully caused Ciri to be born.

That's something that Disney and the MCU completely forgot....your heroes(including your "strong female" heroes) are only ever as strong as your strongest villains. If you make your villains weak, vapid, myopic, insecure, stupid, one-dimensional, or a satirical parody of your own political enemies-then your "strong" and "powerful" heroes are going to look just as equally weak in defeating them. And the audience is going to know that the "victory" they "won" was cheaply bought.
