Brilliant movie in my opinion

I used to work in Colchester and Essex museums. I held the keys to Colchester Castle. Matthew Hopkins actually visited Colchester Castle. Several "witches" were held in the castle prison, and executed. There is now a stone monument in front of the castle. It is inscribed to the innocent victims of the witch trials. Many Catholics were burned to death outside the castle as well. The film is not entirely accurate, witches in England were hanged, not burned to death as like on the Continent. I have been to many of the location sites used on the film: Lavenham, Long Melford, and Orford Castle.
