Um...my reasons for anti-walmart is the way they treat their people. Such a large corporation and they won't take care of their people. The rampant under hour-ing to keep benefits away from the employees. I take my moth eaten wallet elsewhere as it's what my poor a$$ can do to give the bird to places like that. I'm not going after someone's only option if that's all ya got! I do without many things or save for something that will last way longer than something 'cheap.' We loved it when I was younger and it was touted that they were all American products (not trying to be anti other countries) things were actually pretty good for what I remember. I'm a sucker for cool glassware too!

I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT A FAKE CANDLE FOR MY ANCESTOR ALTAR. That's brilliant, I never burn my candles as often as they deserve because I'm busy and worry about fire hazards. You just saved me so much grief (and money)!!! Thank you, auntie!

For stickers (mainly the last layer of sticker that won't peel off and the sticky residue) I usually use nail polish remover wipes and it works like a dream for me.

For the wooden bowl, you can sand the patches where stickers were, and then stain it with oil to protect the wood. Flax oil is the best for wood finish. That's how I repair my bowls. (I have a way too much of them) Hope that helps.

Flea markets can also be a great source for items, I got a great deal on a jewelry box that looks like the one you got at one. And you can always try to haggle them down for a lower price on items, sometimes they will go for the lower price others they will say sorry and they are firm on the price. The jewelry box I had seen at one for a long time and each time I would mention a lower price and for a while they said no, but then one day they finally said yes to the price I was wiling to pay for it.

Since watching your video with The Witch of Wonderlust where you went thrifting, I’ve become much more alert to what I could find for both my practice and alters. I definitely now give my candles taps, slaps and cleansing to wake them up for a new journey with me. I have even started looking in the scarves and throws for possible alter cloths and head coverings. I’ve found so many wonderful items thanks to you both on that video. It has opened my eyes to looking at other items for other uses in my practice, for example, a silver plated sugar bowl to use as a mini cauldron or a silver chalice to use as an offering vessel. Not to mention the stunning bottles, candles and wooden book holder I found at garage sales in my area. Thank you for sharing your ideas and helping all of us with our the individual journeys and practices.

For cleansing wood you can use an oil it helps give the would a protective layer as well. Seriously when you go into the hardware store they have lemon oil that you can use on wood. You can also make your own lemon oil orange oil they use as well. And again that something you can make so that you can charge your oil. Or you can get some from the hardware store and charge that.

For stickers I use just a damp papertowel/cloth towel and leave it on for a few minutes before rubbing them off. For cleansing wood objects, I use Pinesol or Old English, especially the lemon scent!

Frankie, as someone who also venerates the dead, I recomend using an oil lamp for all day access, instead of using the electric candle. Some oils can be highly flammable, but if olive oil touches the flame it will not combust, but rather the flame will be drenched. Olive oil is not that flammable than what most people think. Also I bet your italian ancestors would love an olive oil lamp.

For stickers on metal or glass there is some stuff called Goo Gone, works like a charm. Also, denatured coconut oil will work on glass, metal, and wood, with some patience and elbow grease. For books try Un-Do. You need a window open when you're working with it, and you gotta go slow and not rub too hard but it'll get the sticker and the residue off and not leave an oily spot. It evaporates fast so only a few drops at a time, use the included scraper tool to slowly work the edges of the sticker up, and then once you get it off, use a paper towel and a few more drops to gently buff up any residue that's left. I buy a lot of used books and Hate stickers. 👍🏻😀👍🏻

you know, for cleansing, there are a lot of hand and body washes these days that contain sage (or another herb of your choice for cleansing). You can make a soapy wash with them and use that to cleanse wood, metal, glass, plastic items. Even wax candles if you don't make the water too warm. An example - 'Glow Lab' Amber and Sage body wash. 'Earthwise' nourish body wash with orange, cedarwood and sage. 'Only good' handwash with Mint, aloe and sage. Body wash and handwash of these types is invariably fine on wood as they are intended to be gentle on skin, and you can rinse it after washing it anyway. Some of them have beneficial blends of herbs that can add other properties, in addition to cleansing. I guess if you have time on your hands, you could also make your own washes from raw. (Lessons from when you have to move back home with the olds due to changing environmental conditions, and suddenly find that soot from candles is a national crisis and smoke from smudging leads to a serious discussion about the impact on walls and HVAC air systems.) incidentally... if you have a good fix for mitigating soot staining from burning candles regularly in inconveniently white spaces (other than painting the walls with dark blue chalk paint - that was a flat no as a possible solution) - it would be great if you could do a video on it. Cheap candles from thrift stores solve the economic factor of candle offerings, but they are usually petroleum based candles, which generate the most soot. Obviously if money grew on trees, we'd all be offering beautiful pristine refined beeswax constructions made from our own beehives and dressed in herbs from our own gardens, but that ain't the day-to-day for most people so you work with what you've got Re the soot dilemma, in case anyone else has the same problem - at the moment my plan is to build a second outdoor altar in a relatively private spot of the yard, from a large terracotta or concrete planter, and wire up a decorative grill across the front so that i can safely leave candles to burn down in storm lanterns inside it without risking burning the place down.

My idea of why metal is usually easier to cleanse than wood is because wood is porous and metal is not. Anything attached to metal objects slides off the surface when you cleanse it but wood absorbs the energies around it so it takes more work to cleanse it.
