i would've guessed komaeda would notice but thinking back to how if he was in his present body, he would die soon because of his dementia (i read somewhere that he doesn't have much time left which is why he's so desperate about achieving hope because he fixates on it and it's the last thing he wants to do in life, but also he said once that all he's ever wanted was someone's love), so he ignores it because for him, being in a fake world forever wouldn't affect him as much (i think)

this au is really fascinating, i've always thought about alternate endings to the games and this animatic just gives me life. the whole scenario kind of reminds me of the picture perfect arc in tbhk: it's a fake world but there's still a bittersweet happiness to be found. however, something about this situation very unsettling. after all, the dr cast really is lost inside an eternal dream, and it makes it all the more off-putting when you show images of them living out their best lives. (kind of giving off dystopia vibes ngl) is it just me, or do the survivors all seem to have some recollection of the events in the 6th trial (sonia and hajime, especially). maybe their memories actually haven't been wiped and they've simply blocked it out in an effort to deny reality and accept their utopia as the ultimate truth. it's a really interesting hc for the island mode ending (if there's a possible reset option) since there seems to be much more to lose in that scenario than in canon and everything seems much closer to each other without a killing game. above all, i think this animatic is very sad; there's some parts where it seems to be a lament, and it overall seems incredibly mournful. the au is tranquil, eerie, nostalgic, hollow, and miserable all at the same time and you've really captured the essence here beautifully. forgive me for my clumsy wording, english isn't my first language (-。-; oh and i'm crying ;-;

I just want to say. When I first played danganronpa 2, I felt exactly how Hajime felt, his confused and sad emotions, and I stopped trusting Makoto and his friends and wanted to decide to stay forever in the simulation with everyone back. Of course thanks to Chiaki me and Hajime realised we have to always move forward and create our own future. But that's a main reason why this video hurts so much. Its the outcome I wanted but I know it's so wrong.

Same!! I didn't see the Remnants of Despair twist coming whatsoever, and just the thought of it broke my heart. I had fallen in love with the characters, and I just wanted to see them happy and together. Since there wasn't too big of a chance for the lost people to be woken up in the real world, I had the thought that maybe, it would be better for them to stay and live their best lives together, even if it's in a simulated world. Of course, this video shows just how empty a life like that would be, trying to escape reality and ignoring the nagging feeling that something isn't quite right. (Plus, now I know that everyone does indeed wake up, and even if real life comes with trials and scars, we have the power to shape our future)

i love this. it gives me a feeling of nostalgia an sadness. my theory is that even though the characters look happy, deep down they know that it's a dream, that it is not real, but they do the best they can to ignore it. if that's not the case then i think the survivors repressed their memories of the killing school trip and now live in a perfect game utopia but yet something feels wrong about the situation Because of how the animatic is made, I like to think that sonia and hajime are the ones who notice the fact that something is strange but instead of questioning it and investigating, they decide not to think much about it in exchange for a happy and peaceful life, even if it is not real
@BIDZ1803 жыл бұрын
This is haunting and beautiful. The shots of Hajime looking at Chiaki like he's not even fully capable of recognizing that she's there, the shot of Sonia looking almost like she wants to cry but doesn't know why. The dreamlike nature of this is captured magnificently.
@fluttervixen3 жыл бұрын
This is really awesome, I love how eerie it is, and how Hajime and Sonia seem to be the only ones who are aware. Akane is busy spending time with her friends, Fuyuhiko is focused on being being with Peko again, Kazuichi can't accept it, and doesn't want to think it's fake, but Sonia definitely notices something is off. Hajime obviously does too, and I think Chiaki overseeing them is the cherry on top. It's almost as if they blocked out their memories of her and their friendship with her because they decided to stay in the simulation. And now all she's doing is fulfilling her true purpose- to watch and observe them. They forgot her to keep living peacefully. Shit I'm sad ;-;

This is absolutely incredible!! The atmosphere, the music choice, the color palettes, the perfect summer vibes mixed with the unmistakable feeling of something being slightly _off_ ... it's just so good. Also, I LOVE the part where Hajime falls into the pool and the music gets muted before the others pull him out. It's just *_chef's kiss_* Edit: Also, I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into this, but it definitely seems like Sonia also realizes something is wrong, and I really really love that. It makes sense for the other survivors to not care (Fuyuhiko being too preoccupied w/ Peko, Kazuichi not wanting to accept the truth, and Akane being, well, Akane), but I think Sonia would absolutely doubt the reality. As far as I'm concerned, she doesn't get nearly as much recognition as she should, so I absolutely appreciated that focus on her too!

Bro the tired smiles. Just really drives home they know they're just deluding themselves with this. Good shit. Like there's fun moments here in this perfect little utopia, but look a layer deeper and it's just an unsettling, uncomfortable nothingness. They finally got a chance to leave this island, the thing they've been fighting for the entire time they've been there, but in the end they didn't have the willpower to jump that last hurdle. Knowing all they know there's no way they could just agree. Staying may just be running away but at least it's comfortable. Familiar. Safe. But there's just that thought, nagging at them in the back of their minds. The thought that they can't just run away from this. That they have to tackle this head on and take the bull by the horns. But they really just don't believe they have the strength. Little extra thought. If the survivors collectively decided they wanted to leave after all what would happen to the others. I imagine they'd get taken over by Junko. That'd be it's own little utopia. Jumping from Utopia to Utopia. Deluding themselves to the end with no real end in sight. Now *that's* despair-inducing. Junko would be proud.

wow wow WOW. i cried real bad at this 😭😭 this is such a fascinating thing to have explored and you did it so perfectly, with how complex of a circumstance it is and with the characters having such heavy and confused thoughts and feelings. the part that stung me the most was hajime seeing flashes of the real outside world in ruin, the awful things they'd endured in the program, and then his reflection (the him who has done awful things) staring back at him. i love the way he falls back into the pool and the song muffles ever so slightly as he's left alone with his thoughts and can think about and ruminate on what he just saw; the guilt of running from the truth and running from his past actions. and then to be pulled up by his friends, smiling at him, being snapped out of his very real concerns and back into the peaceful reality they've built to keep themselves safe. but the underbelly never goes away. another part i loved was the glitch effect when sonia is staring out at the ocean. i'm not sure if they have the knowledge of what happened to the outside world in this hypothetical situation, or if their memories were re-erased for this ever-lasting tropical island life, but if they don't know - which is what i'm leaning towards - then she must have such a gnawing feeling that she's forgetting something. when i was watching that part of her staring off, going through my mind was how she still has that strong sense of responsibility towards her people and her kingdom of novaselic, and while she enjoys the peace of the island with her friends she can't shake the feeling that she's abandoned a huge part of her. "who will care for them if i'm not there?" but the emotions are muddled and she can't quite place this strange feeling, or where its coming from. i feel like this would be the same for all the others too, for each of their unique back story circumstances (like teruteru and his mother), but some hide it better than others. or, some supress their own thoughts/feelings from themselves better than others, refusing to acknowledge any strange or doubtful feelings in favour of their "happy" paradise together. its really so interesting and so amazing, and you captured all of this so well, it had me blubbering throughout 😭 what an unnerving and melancholy, yet conflictingly sweet and pleasant situation. so tragic - hopeful on the surface but despair just a few layers beneath (lol danganronpa reference hope despair hope hope future blah blah) ALSO THE SONG CHOICE???? it could not be more perfect??? its so specific to this hypothetical situation as well like omg, that was so immersive. so chilling!!!! i could waffle on more about this because it intrigues me so much as an idea and the way you executed it, but i'll shut up for now lmao

It's very rare when I watch a video several times, and this is one of them. It has such a... quiet happiness throughout. But an underlying sadness too. In short, it's quite wonderful uw,u

God I don't have the words to say how much i love this animatic and au, it's so well thought out and the art is so pretty and sad at the same time, also great pick for the song, i loved how the music sounded like it was under water when Hajime fell into the pool

love how slowly everyone turns miserable into this reality. Like the small part where we see what could have happened at first, it is mostly brighter colors with pastels. Everyone is excited in the portion excited to see each other again. That's when the game starts to get glitchy and I forget who, but I think it was Chiaki? questioned the reality saying something like this isn't right. I also laughed because everyone is mostly wearing bathing suits and such while Gundam and Chiaki are just wearing their regular clothes. Loved it, even though I doubt you will see this!!

Ughhhh there’s just. Something so emotional about going from hollow emptiness to happiness and content, even if you know it won’t last. This reminds me so much of all my camp friends, but it’s a camp for kids who’s parents have cancer, so at times all we can be reminded of is the pain back home, but at camp we’re finally able to just forget all that and. Be kids. And watch fireworks on the 4th and swim in the lake and just be happy with people you love with all your heart. Like just knowing that they could be happy again, just for a moment, is making me cry like an idiot but I’m just so emotional for them. Thanks for making this UGHHHH

I cannot express my love for this properly. The colours, the expression, the sadness and feelings I got watching this are beautiful. This was just so satisfying and uplifting! It's great to see mor Danganronpa animatics, and amazing ones at that. Thank you for sharing this, it made my week!!

This is so bittersweet. I love seeing them all happy. We saw little snippets of them being a little happy in the beginning of the game, but after the killing game started, it was never the same and they couldn’t be happy in the same way anymore. And this animatic shows how happy they are without all the killings and despair. But, you can see the hint of sadness as little memories of being the Remnants of Despair still linger, and flashes of the real world are shown on the monitor. And Chiaki, looking at her makes me sad because she’s no longer alive, and rather an AI that supposed to watch over them. They are so happy, but it’s sad that none of it is real.

You can tell how much effort and love was put into a video only 10-15 seconds in. The colors are wonderful, the style is amazing, and the song fits so well. This world, au, you created as an alternate ending to the danganronpa two is perfect. It pains me to see the survivors faces when looking at everyone and how sad they are, especially Sonia I never thought I would think that she could hurt my feelings but here she is. She seems to be struggling with what has happened before. Hajime seems to space out and focus on Nanami as he knows she isn't real. Kazuichi seemed pained. And when you see Fuyuhiko and Peko's scene, you can see the sadness in his eyes when he looks at her. Akane also is pained but i dont get many scenes with her. You can also tell in the end that everyone was affected because of how tired their eyes were and how upset they seemed. The world may not be ideal for them, and they can never escape, but they are still pushing through in some way. THIS NEXT PART HAS A BIT OF SPOILERS!!!!! Nanami seems a fish out of water in this, as if she doesn't belong. How in scenes where everyone is in bathing suits or something, she is in normal clothing and not taking part. She probably knows the situation as she is a 'hologram' made to help the remnants turn to themselves, back to, for example, Peko Pekoyama Ultimate Swordswoman instead of Peko Pekoyama Ultimate Despair. I have also watched this video so many times, thank you for this master piece.

Something about this is just, sad. Might it be the tranquility, the nostalgia or the fact Hajime seems to have something on his mind he can’t forget. But I believe it’s Chiaki. Chiaki is rarely seen through the whole 4 minute video. It just reminds me of the drv3. How Chiaki died and she’s not real. Just, sad.

This is so sad, given I know the ending of the game. To think that all of that could've been their actual expirience in the virtual world if Monokuma hadn't hacked in makes me sad too..

This just stings me and it kinda reminds me of the good times in the Despair Arc in Danganronpa 3 but with Hajime in it They're all so happy and cheerful yet at any moment there's a chance they meet a certain despair like facing the truth I would title this as a lying end (Bad end) in my opinion since it just doesn't feel like they're truly happy deep inside and they're just hidden from the truth. A fake hope you could say. Overall, I really like the video :D

Everyone's commenting on the art, which is obviously incredible, but if you see this I just wanted to comment that the sound editing when Hajime falls into the pool took this whole thing to another level. I was enjoying it before that point, but that little extra detail put me right there in the scene, and made the whole thing click for me. Amazing work!

The thing that hit me the most is that melancholy vibe that stuck with everyone. They've laughed and had fun but there was a small despair that lingers within the back of their minds, taunting them that this bliss is just from their minds in denial. I feel like Junko said "Let's immerse ourselves in this tropical island life forever and ever and ever and ever..." because she knew despair would always stick with them no matter what happened.
@cupcakeplusher3 жыл бұрын
this is so well done.. i couldn't stop watching it and still want more. you were able to convey the emotion so well, giving this sort of tranquil everything is good vibe but also bringing out the despair (haha) that some of the characters see, knowing that nothing of this is real and they're actually trapped. awesome work, subbing for sure

This is incredible. For 4 minutes and 4 seconds I was totally inmersed in this video. It took my mind out of the stress from college, which I was trying to do to no avail, until I saw this. The aesthetic, the music, the colors, the story, it's all amazing. Thank you for doing this!!
