ppl underestimate how unique Sonic's character was back in the day, he was a free spirit and didn't just play the hero, he did what he thought he could do to make other's lives better, he wasn't even that much of a leader, he just didn't follow to begin with. He wasn't a one note funny guy or mainly serious like in Frontiers (great game, great story, it just dialed the characters to being broody all the time with little but existing breaks) , he played the part not only others needed but the ones that he wanted. He was a flat character but a damn good one at that

Technically she did die because if you think about it Merlina and Dark Queen really weren't the same person in the fight. Merlina cameback after Sonic defeated Dark Queen. It's kinda like how Chaos turned good again after Super Sonic beat Perfect Chaos.

You know, this game got Sonic's character down perfectly. Most games he's just a fun-loving, cocky teenager with the mindset of "Gotta Go Fast" which is perfectly fine, but the story of this game actually reveals his beliefs and why he has his mindset. He doesn't give a shit about whether what he does is truly right or wrong, he just believes that everyone should make the most out of their lives-and if anyone tries to impede that, whether it be through slavery, destruction or in this case, taking the drive out of life by making it eternal, he'll stop them, regardless of the cost. So his mindset goes from a simple "Gotta Go Fast" to "Gotta do what I gotta do. Fast." What's really great though, is that even with all this development, Sonic's still a really fun character in this game like he is in all the others-it doesn't take away from it like what, say, 06 ended up doing.

This song, well this game in general really shows Sonic's true personality and his morals that you've never seen before. He's cocky and can be arrogant, but never shies from danger or never lets an innocent get hurt, even if that means becoming the 'bad guy'; like defeating King Arthur. "Guess I can't be the hero every time." That one line showed a lot about Sonic that was never elaborated on, which is isn't "I need to be the hero all the time." Its more like, "You're doing something I find immoral or evil, so you're going down!" That's something about Sonic I wish Sega would show more of instead of Roger Craig Smith's Sonic's assholery. Sonic and the Black Knight showed Sonic's heroic side, but also showed his softer, flexible side. That is one of the many reasons that SATBK is my favorite Sonic game, even if it isn't canon.

The most awesome part of this song is that, at first its seems to be from Merlina's perspective, but if you really examine the lyrics and keep the themes of the game in mind, this song is from Sonic's perspective. This song is out right stating Sonic is fighting to end the world. There's so much to be deciphered from the lyrics, some of my favorites ones are. "My eyes (my eyes) are filled with curiosity You think (you think) that you have power over me In this life (this life) there's no room for you and me So turn away or face this day with me (Face the day with me) With me (Face the day with me)" Sonic in this case represents a force of change. He's surprised that she thinks she can really stop him. The next line is telling her to turn away or come face tomorrow with him. There is no implication that she can win, that she can stop change. "I can taste the day Savor night Spells beyond you as I watch you crawl Do you dare to fight evil's might? I'll be the last one standing in a flash of light" They know what the future holds, and its bitter. Merlina needs to savor the night before hand, to remember the good times. Savoring something, however, means you know its fleeting. You don't savor something that lasts forever. In this case, Sonic is evils might. Regardless of how you interpret Merlina, there's no way you can actually see her as an evil character. She isn't doing anything to hurt the general populace, even if she isn't directly helping them. She just wants to save the world. And the last line is the most important. Again, it an absolute statement. Merlina will not win. She cannot stop the future, no matter what. There's a lot of stuff like in this songs lyrics. Its actually pretty amazing.

Though that's something of a biased opinion, because I really like swords. The only thing I didn't like about the game, was the relatively high difficulty level of the game overall. Sonic Generations never gave me as much trouble as this game did. Only one minor optional challenge was that difficult.

When it comes to their other covers I think their version of His World is equal to the original and while the Zebrahead version is good I don't like how the singer sounds so angry in my opinion. Guys at first glance it seems like it's coming from Merlena's point of view but when you really think about it it's actually coming from sonic's it's like sonic said "guess I can't be the hero every time" because he isn't the hero he's the bad guy in the story he's referring to himself as evil dude what are you trying to do? prevent an internal world he realizes it but he's doing it for good he's doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. In fact he even talks about how he said that during the fight damn I love this game it's just so well thought out.

Christopher Llewellyn well not to diminish this badass game, but there actually are clubs and such for midevil swordfighting. Most people don't like Larping (myself included) but if you look for foam fighting there is probably pretty little larp and more actually running around and hitting people.

I absolutely loved this game. This game is my second favorite Sonic game of all time. I grew up playing Sonic Adventure 2 so that’s my favorite. I miss playing Sonic and the Black Knight. I loved this game. While people would question the fact Sonic is holding a sword, no one questions Mario playing Soccer, Basketball, cleaning grafitti, but Sonic holding a sword is where they draw the line. The game had so much to offer, with different characters, different play styles, pretty good controls compared to Secret Rings and Zero Gravity and a kickass soundtrack. Wish they'd bring this universe back someday.

This song and this game in a whole got Sonic‘s character better than pretty much any game after adventure 2. Even Unleashed. And I think unleashed is fantastic. The gameplay may be mediocre, but this is a stand out sonic title for the character writing and songs like this that go well to show it. You don‘t have to view Sonic as in the right in this game, but you do get to see exactly what he believes in. And that‘s more than enough.

This game was my first console Sonic game. Before this game, my experience with Sonic was with the handheld Rush series games, Mario&Sonic handheld games, flash games you'd find on the internet, and Sonic X.
