This happened to me on a two week backpacking trip this little rodent called pikas chewed the strap on. My backpack because of the salt in my sweat I guess so I had to sew my strap back onto the bag. so I heated a fish hook in the the camp fire bent it straight smoothed it on a flat rock and used it to sew my shoulder straps back on mine and both of my friend bag he lost two. I still have the bag today. And I use the special fishing line I had was carbon fiber very very strong and thin fish line to fix our bags. We also had a freak snowstorm come in and had to sleep in a cave hahaha it was quite the adventure that test our skills and creativity. Love your show brother!

Super, dass du dieses alte Wissen aufgreifst und weiter gibst! Danke dafür!👍👍👍 Auch wie man eine (Not-) Nadel aus den (richtigen) Dornen herstellt, weiß heutzutage kaum mehr jemand. Well said. I think the cordage is best made "before needed", at a campfire while sipping on a beer or whiskey. Then keep in storage, more or less like charred cloth, made before the time. I don't think I have the patience to do it on the spot 🥸

@@FelixImmler Most of these 'skinny' barks are flammable: beech, silver birch and even maple tree sap being surprisingly flammable! Most interesting is the thin bark of the Arolla pine, and a plant botanically named 'Acacia species'. Molly said even bamboo, and she also said another plant - Broom whose botanical name of Cytisus - also is flammable.
