Kids, and many adults too, are glued to their phones all day, but it's not just because of TikTok. This obsession began with the advent of smartphones, followed by social media platforms like FB, mobile games, then IG, KZbin, and numerous other apps. People were already hooked on their phones long before TK emerged. Even with the ban, people still have Reels, KZbin Shorts, and other TK copycats. So, what really needs to change is the approach to parenting and regulation tbh.

It's US and Chinese government don't want people to communicate with each other. This really reminded me of a screen connecting Times Square to European countries. All these prejudices disappeared after she came to visit the San Francisco for a month. She met real American people and they are all friendly, and that was more profound than decades of propaganda. Is America good? Probably not. Is America bad? That’s not necessarily true.After she returned, she stopped watching any influencers who advocated the fall of the United States. Is America good? Interesting take but it’s not that deep. TikTok installs are banned in Mainland China but open for installs in the US. So at face value, TikTok is a security risk because that’s the perfect setting for malware. If TikTok was legal to have installed in Mainland China this would not be a security issue. It would just be about the difference in propaganda, which both the US and China have independently. Why should the US allow China to dominate US media when the US social media platforms are prohibited in China ? (The Great Firewall in China blocks these social media sites).

Tiktok data is stored in US so that Chinese government blocked the App. Google and Meta refused to have data stored in China for Chinese content so that their Apps being blocked. China stated many times that all social media companies are welcomed to operate in China as long as the data is store in China.

For years, U.S. tech giants have attempted to replicate TikTok's algorithm, but their efforts have largely been unsuccessful. On the other hand, China enforces strict censorship on online content-a practice we recognize as wrong. This is something every American understands, and most Chinese citizens are well aware of too. If the U.S. were to adopt similar practices, in no way this should be held to a different standard.
