there are gardens by the ruins in the game, when you dig them you can get flowering soil.

I keep trying to build new bases but it is not enough room because only my main base can be leveled up :( do you have any tips?

I don't know, can't they all be upgraded separately? Uninstall the one at your home base and redo it and keep it at low level. You can upgrade the other one that way.

There are two upgrades, one for strenght to push the miasma away, one for the building range. The upgrade for the strenght is the same for all altars. You do it for one altar only. If you destroy this altar, you have to strenghten an other one. If one altar is strenghtened no other can be. The upgrade for the building range is individually for each altar. So it is possible to build several bases in different locations or to connect 4 range upgraded altars to a huge area to build a mega base or city. For connected building areas you have to pay attention to the maximum possible area of the involved altars when they are finally max upgraded.
