Love Within Temptation. Not a fan of Rap. But God Damn, this works. One of my favorite tracks on the album.
@fudgecakesss10 жыл бұрын
Some rap is good. I personally like songs such ans "Stan" and "Beautiful." But Gangster rap is low. Most rap fans don't listen to the introspective, philosophical stuff, or they don't care.
@pondguru10 жыл бұрын
fudgecakesss Early MNM stuff is fine but today it all seems to be about money, cars, bitches etc. which is so boring and repetitive and the videos for much of mainstream music (not just rap) is over sexualized which also gets wearing. I tend to hunt out more obscure artists who are in it for the music.
@Kilkas71010 жыл бұрын
fudgecakesss what about Wu Tang... RZA is only one member and hes one of the most progressive philosophical people living. There are good and bad smart and stupid people everywhere. I know what youre trying to say, but ehh

All the people saying they hate rap make the same mistake I used to. Rap isn't all bad, when it started out it was about real people facing struggles, and there's good songs that happen to be by rap artists and have a positive message. But rap music that's about ego and hoes and money? Yeah, that's bullshit, I agree.
@Blueglitter738 жыл бұрын
+Mikihara I absolutely agree with you. I listen to songs with rap that seems like a poem or has a meaning. That's the kind of rap I like. Popular rap that's about ego and hoes and money like you said, is pointless to me. I don't listen to that kind of rap, because it irks me how selfish and vulgar they sound.
@FeministCatwoman8 жыл бұрын
Starfire★Uchiha I tend to get especially turned off by all the racist slurs in that particular genre of rap. Not to mention the plethora of rappers, male and female, who talk about abuse and rape and assault in their music like it's all a joke.
@Blueglitter738 жыл бұрын
I don't know why that genre of rap is popular. I don't know why people like to listen to that stuff. Maybe they are influenced in wanting to become those kind of rappers, thinking that it's "cool". Just wondering.
@Sarubotai8 жыл бұрын
+Mikihara not to be a racist or anything, but that kind of rap is mostly black rap nowadays
@leooberon92688 жыл бұрын
People that say they hate rap need to listen to songs like fragile or noose but tech n9ne. Kings never die or mocking bird by eminem. Alone by iniquity rhymes. That has a lot of meaning to it

My wife started getting sick several years ago. The doctors said her kidneys were too badly damaged, and she could not survive a transplant. After years, she passed away in May of this year. I had slowly started to put myself in that dark place Xzibit seems to be in in the main video for this song... but recently... I have changed...This song is one of a few that helped pull me from that place... And we run~

all those metal heads who complain about rapping being in a metal song, should really be ashamed of themselves. that´s one of the things what´s wrong with society - being stuck in a box, too damn stubborn to try something different and ignorant towards other genres. it´s ok to not like a particular rap, but it´s not ok to diss the entire genre, and saying it has no place in metal. go listen to rage against the machine and stop being so damn close-minded.
@ZeroMatrixGuyver10 жыл бұрын
In truth, I agree whole heartedly (Dunno iffen that's the right wording, but meh). In fact, the song is beautiful on it's own, but the rapping from Xzibit fits the song and the tempo quite well. I tip my hat to ye, FruityHachi. It gives me hope to see that there is still people out there that take a step back and look at the whole picture =D. Once more, I tip my hat to ye, good person. XD

I usually stay away from today's rap genre... But I'm a huge fan of mixed styles. And holy hell, this song is quite nice. The high contrast of the voices, rhythm and beats are what makes things like this so good.

There are people out there who hate metal and that is worshiping evil. There are people who hate rap/hip-hop and think that they rap about b!tches and drugs. We have to learn to respect each other. We cannot be stereotypical about a certain genre. I like many different genres and I love when artists come together and create something new. For those of you who hate a certain genre go give them a chance it's not going to hurt.

When I first saw that Xzibit would be featured in this song, I knew that it would be fantastic, and it is, but I also knew that it would really bring out all of the people that strictly listen to metal and anything rap or even close to it is pure evil. People seem to (somehow) not understand why this album is called Hydra. Hydras have several heads - and this album has several styles off music. Only a few songs on Hydra would I actually consider "metal," but the diversity is why I really love this album. Featuring Xzibit on the album was an excellent decision and "And We Run" is one of my favorite songs on the album (with Silver Moonlight, Let Us Burn, Tell Me Why, Paradise, and Dog Days). It isn't my #1 favorite Within Temptation album, but I definitely love it and its diversity.
@AAAbattery72610 жыл бұрын
completely agree with this comment/analysis. Loved the fact that you connected the Hydra's heads to the diversity of featured vocalists in this album. Agreed, it isn't my favorite WT album (simply because it doesn't flow as well as other albums), but the songs on the album and the diversity WT brings out just goes to show that they are true musicians. Yes, there are genres in music, but to simply say that two genres cannot mesh together is simply shallow-minded. This is a beautiful track and easily one of my favorite songs ever written by them. Thank you for your insight!

Normally, I turn my nose up to any kind of hip-hop or rap with disdain...normally. What WT has done here, I find to be utterly amazing! They have such a gift of experimentation within their genre, and to have included rap, in this case, has created something I find to be truly epic...blows my mind.

After listening to the whole entire album, I must say it works. I, at first, was like, "Wha...?" Then I listened to it in the context of the album and I must say it's a good song. Music may be presented in a box but, it does not always have to follow what's in the box and be confined to it. Music is free flowing.

I've been WT's fan for about 10 years, i know they've changed but I'm so proud of how far they've come. They were and amazing gothic metal band, then a great symphonic rock/metal act and this is nothing but great nü metal piece for the record... Now that they're at the peak of their carreer i can't be anything but happy for them and thankful for years of great music.

A surprising number of people are commenting on how much they hate rap. What do you mean you "hate rap". How could you possibly write off an entire genre, especially one that has merged with rock so well in the past 20 years. If you don't like the way Xzibit's sections work with the song than say so. Please don't say the song is no good because you hate rap. Anyway, pretty good song. Xzibit did a good job, almost reminded me of Tech 9.

I actually like the rap. You need to do stuff different if you want to set yourself apart from the rest. The fact that a lot of goth-oriented people are as conservative and narowminded as fuck, doesn;t mean it's a bad choice. However, the orchestral part doesn't come through enough. Especially in the part where Xzibit's voice is leading. It just doesn't fit. It the chorus it's ok. But they should only have done it towards the end of the song...
