Songs of Within temptation always touch upon actual problems around us.. for example - our solemn hour, heart of everything, forsaken, truth beneath the rose, the howling, mother earth and etc.. I think this song is about disasters and natural calamities, about greed of all human kind, about people's disrespectful behaviour to each other and to the whole world.. I wish people listened to the song in question every day to understand something..

Also, if you're familiar with the band Nightwish, its old singer appears to have what's called 'perfect pitch' but she still sings a little off on occasion, it's something that comes with live performances that, in my opinion makes them even more amazing than just listening to a recording because you get imperfections. It's just part of performing live.
