Hard to say "this version is better" In the end, the original is always the best, because its "easy" to make the original more metal-like, or more crazy or more creative. But in the end, its the original, who made that possible. I don't think, Sharon wanted to create a "better" version, she just wanted to show us her fantastic voice to fantastic song. And she succeeded!

Nah, the original isn't always the best. There are instances of covers where even the original artists thinks that the cover is better. However, I don't think it's the case here. Everybody claiming "this version is so much better" most likely simply prefers the sound of guitars over synthesisers. It's also a different approach: this version will sound pretty much the same when played live, whereas David Guetta's version is made in a studio on a computer, and can hardly be performed live. Where Guetta's version stands out is the sound design: a guitar's sound is defined by its effect processors, and those are largely dictated by the genre, whereas you can design a synth's sound in detail.
