Ever wondered what vintage UK prison drama 'Within These Walls' would be like if it featured incidental music - and particularly the same incidental music as vintage Australian prison drama 'Prisoner Cell Block H'?! Well, wonder no longer…
In this clip from the episode ‘Transfer’, inmate Marian Robertson - newly transferred to Stone Park, and serving an unprecedented long-term sentence of 210 years for acts of treason - meets some of the women on her wing for the first time: a rather odd assembly of inmates, each with issues of her own, who all work together in the prison’s central cleaning store, as well as dining in a separate room to the other prisoners. They are curious about the new arrival, and find in her a strangely quiet, self-contained, difficult-to-read woman (who decides to keep the full, jaw-dropping extent of her sentence to herself). But despite this guardedness, Marian may, in her off-kilter way, end up being a perfect fit for this group...
With 'PCBH' library music added for effect (track: 'Veil of Secrecy' by Rod Argent and Robert Howes, from the KPM Music LP 'Second Sight’)!
Clip features (in order of first appearance): Lorain Bertorelli (as Steve Barnet); Barbara Atkinson (as Margaret Wallace); Peggy Aitchison (as Vi Dodds); Caroline Mortimer (as Marian Robertson); Lilian Rostkowska (as Chrissy Mead); Gillian Rhind (as Mike Lever); Penelope Nice (as Carol Stanstead); Susie Jenkinson (as Ray Warwick); and Isobil Nisbet (as June Morton).
