Globally, suicide is the second leading cause of death among youths aged between 15-29 years, according to the World Health Organization.
Close to 800,000 deaths every year are as a result of suicides. That translates to about one death every 40 seconds.
Over the last 9 years alone, the number of recorded suicides in Kenya has risen by 58%.
When do we say enough is enough and begin to treat mental illnesses as illnesses like any other? When do we begin to take our mental health seriously?
