Ay, it sounds to me that the step dad started grooming and abusing this child from age 12(Ma mentions her first big acting-out episodes around that age, while uMa was pregnant). He used to incentivise her silence through gifts (uMa mentions that he used to take her out to malls and only buy her gifts, she even highlights that he bought Samke a BB phone) that’s rather suspicious red-flag. UMa, speaks highly of this man and he came in her life and he has been her only ever provider (trauma-bond). uMa, solely puts a blame on Samke and doesn’t ever hold her man accountable even for that (Pietermaritzburg BIG redflag) sweeps the whole thing under the carpet for him. Is it not possible that uMa is literally in denial her child’s underlying issue stem from abuse, because it would mean that she has to confront that she failed to protect her child from a predator all because he was their provider. Instead just chose to victim-blame. Also take into account that uMa has alot of her own trauma from losing her primary care-giver to being sexually assaulted by her uncle, to being shamed about her sexual assault encounter, to having to raise a child by her-self. I also listened to Samke’s podcast she keeps mentioning an underlying trauma that she won’t exactly reveal and tries very much to intellectualise her emotions instead of embodying them. A lot of sexually abused victims suffer from internalised shame, if not carefully dealt with they often live it in a way that perpetuates their own self-hatred. I would definitely encourage therapy for both mom and daughter to really get in the nexus of their wound so that can begin their healing. Samke is still very young, she’s only 26 with really good help and some coping strategies she could still transform her life for the better and they could still have a healthy relationship.

Samke mom tried by all means to raise her daughter well but this is the thank you she gets 💔. My niece is like samke. Raised well but she chose to be on the streets.
