It's nice to see Withings finally offer a watch that one can read the time on in a quick glance. Their other watches have such slender low contrast hands that they are annoying and difficult to read. It seems like a lot of extra money to pay just to get a version that reads as easy as a $30 Timex.

Please redirect me to it if you have already created similar report Keep up good work!

The scanwatch is a great walkers watch, pretty accurate steps and great watch for walkers. As for going to sleep and and waking up, have had no issues. Mine detects going to sleep and waking up accurately and have had mine 3 months and no issues detecting going to sleep and wakeup times. Both scanwatch and Horizon are the same watch, just different designs. If your exercise is walking then the perfect watch. Seems most fitness watches have trouble with biking.

The normal oxygen levels should actually be between 98 and 100%. In hospital, we get a little nervous whenever a patient has a saturation below 97-96 and track it accordingly as this is actually already abnormally low and might caused by obstructed breathing etc. You can see that on the "real" oxymeter.

Hey, love these videos! Is the better measurements on the horizon vs the normal scanwatch in weight lifting simply a software issue fixed by updates or is it because of different sensors that withings might have used? Would love a scanwatch as my apple watch 5 is getting really scratched since I dropped it a few times when taking it off charge (clumsy) and the battery life frankly quite crap, but am also a powerlifter as a hobby. The measurements are a nice bonus so xd. Thanks!

Hi Rob Love your channel and methods. I bought this watch, it is beautyful. However, on the crosstrainer it's close to useless showing 96 bpm instead of 138 bpm measured with the HFC 10. As no external heart rate monitors can be attached, this issue can't be fixed. Further, the data can't be easily be exported (only via zip - download resulting in huge json files). Verdict: useless even for moderate users like myself. I will have to go back to an (ugly) Garmin, since they have resolved both issues!

@romanvoronov66232 жыл бұрын
they don't share the SPO2 sleep data. I feel like it doesn't measure frequently enought to catch any apnea. And the ECG only tells you whether you are dead/alive, while everything inbetween is 'inconclusive'
@denodan2 жыл бұрын
If you want a runners watch, then it's Garmin. If you want a walkers watch and this is your exercise routine, the the scanwatch as its one of the more accurate step tracking watches. The HR Sport was rubbish, but withings have really upped their game with the scanwatch and Horizon, miles better in every way than the HR sport

I do wish the sleep tracking wasn't so terrible. Scanwatch gjves me over 3hrs of deep sleep and 59 nights with the Dreem 2 showed an avg of 57min. It also is not good at detecting wake ups throughout the night.
@romanvoronov66232 жыл бұрын
After half a month of ownining it: 1) They don't show you a plot of SPO2, even if you set it to measure all night long. The Sleep O2 monitoring is really one of their selling points with the long battery life due to with you give up the smart-watch features. But no, they just give you OK/Not OK type of measurement for the entire night; 2) I woke up, took an ECG and went back to sleep... Yet, despite me manually pushing and holding a button on the watch for 30secs, their algorithm still did not catch the awakening and considered it to be non-interrupted sleep... 🤦♂ 3) The ECG basically tells you whether you are dying or not. Anything inbetween is "inconclusive". So, overall, you mostly just have the mediocre (according to Rob's study) heart rate monitor on a classic-looking regular dumb watch for $500. I am considering returning it.

I will add to this that I measured SPO2 on a trans-atlantic flight at different elevatations, and it barely showed any decrease at all: it went from 98% on the ground to something like 95-96% at the highest altitude of the flight (which is probably within its accuracy uncertainty bounds anyways).

depends what you are looking for to be tracked. all models do have their advantages and disadvantages. you can buy the apple (older model) - where you get good heart rate monitoring e.g. - i owned many brands started with moto 360.....during the years i noticed that i do not like charging them every single day and i also do not like to have a mobile computer on my wrist getting notifications back and forth. used several withings models now - and yes maybe they are not 100% accurate, but i do like to wear them every day and i am getting somekind of tracking on avarage level so that i can compare days/weeks/monthts activities.
