My first concert in Brooklyn back in the late 70s or early 80s my beloved brother took me! I have loved them since! Thank you Herman RIP

Fabulous song- it's got John Lyon's expressive blue-eyed soul voice, super production, and that great 5-piece horn section.

Maybe my favorite song by the boys. Love the horns and strings. This is when they were at the top of their game I think. Great stuff.

Love this band. They never got their due. The arrangements, vocals, and horns defined the best of American Rock from 1960-1980. The blend of Brill Building, Wall of Sound, Stax, black and white soul (as it was called "blue eyed soul")....embodied the best that came out of the east coast of that period. BTW- I did not know this song was written by Aretha Frankin's little sister Carolyn (RIP, cancer 1988). Talent was doled out to that family.....

Southside's vocals are so fluid, just such a great natural musician, this has to be one of his best. The Fever remains my fave though, play it on the piano when I have the fever...

This is an amazing song. I saw them last night in Alexandria, VA. Johnny's voice has gone to hell ... he can hardly even talk anymore. But they still put on a great show ... when the horns kick in, the band helps out on harmonies, and he starts to really belt out one of these old classics, the place rocks.

I remeber when this guy came out. It was right after Born to Run and everyone was waiting with baited breath for the new Sprinsteen album. We latched onto this because it was the "Asbury Park Sound" we all wanted to hear. We listened to this for almost 2 years till finally he came out with "Darkness On the Edge of Town"! But it was a great substitute while it lasted.! He is still a great artist and his music has aged well.

Without Love All night long I could not sleep For ringing in my ear I heard a sweet, soft melody, yes I did The words at first, I couldn't make out clear The black cloud had drifted away And, baby, this is what I heard her say, she said Without love, there's nothing you can do oh, oh, oh Without love, you're not really you oh, baby All night long she spoke to me She whispered in my ear Beneath that sweet, soft melody She said, "Don't you know that a rich man A rich man that might be poor If money is all that he has" Without love, there's nothing you can do oh, oh, oh Without love, you're not really you oh, baby And all night long she spoke to me She whispered in my ear Way beneath that sweet, soft melody And this is what she said She said, "Hey, baby, don't you know that a rich man A rich man that might be poor If money is all that he has" Baby, without love, there's nothing you can do oh, oh, oh Without love, you're not really you oh, oh, oh by Carolyn Franklin and Ivory Joe Hunter
