Without my foster mum, I wouldn’t be who I am today

Meet 21 year-old Jade an enthusiastic apprentice at Somerset County Council ... and a care-leaver.
Jade came into care when she was 14 years old, the eldest of five. Here, she talks about how her Foster mum and family helped her make sense of her situation and become the person she is today. Through their love and support, she has found the right path and flourished.
We're seeking ordinary people who can offer a safe, stable home to a child over 10, or a teenager, who are unable to live with their birth families. These children and young people may have complex circumstances, experienced abuse or neglect, or have parents unable to care for them. They need enthusiastic, resilient and supportive foster carers or foster families to be there for them.
