If you don't crucify the flesh daily, a lot of things could be considered fun, and following your heart is the deception, Jeremiah 17:9-10. heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Have y'all ever noticed how many times the Bible talks about fun, entertainment, etc. ? Me neither. I'm starting to realize that most of our fun, pleasure, and entertainment are mini vacations in our flesh away from the path of life. We get on the fence (which the devil owns) or outright jump the fence. How many hours of the day do we do our own carnal, self-pleasuring thing? Each day is a microcosm of our trajectory of our entire lives. Every action needs to be one that would cause Him to say, "Well done" if we want to hear that one day.

@@RCGWho Do you think that God doesn't want us to have fun? Does God not want us to enjoy the world? Even things like hiking and sports, I mean. Some people say God wants us to enjoy the world he created, but what do you think he wants for us?

I was called the N word at the ATM shortly after I was saved. like really saved. I got so angry This time I searched for answers in the bible instead of calling my friends to hype me up . You noticed that Jesus never defended himself during the crucifixion, Neve spoke a word God also told me Jesus went STARIGHT to the wilderness after his baptism. These 2 lessons helped me to realized when you give your life to God you will be tested so be like Christ: In the wilderness use the word. In anger say nothing. Preston and Jackie are hilarious 😂. Also, it really resonates with me how Jackie talked about people thinking Christianity is not fun. We have all been deceived at one point when straying away, thinking the world is more fun than God. I must say that nothing in the world has ever given me the peace and joy I find and experience in Christ and fellowship in like-minded Believers. Joining a small group Bible study this year, helped me with this. And most definitely a lot of it boils down to desiring fellowship, as she mentioned, and I believe at times the resistance to surrendering all parts of our life to our Lord and Savior. This was a wonderful episode.❤

The night before I got saved I was out drinking and partying for my birthday. The next day I was at church watching people getting baptized and started crying the entire time while people getting baptized. I ended up getting asked if I wanted to get baptized and I wholeheartedly believe the Holy Spirit answered the question thru me because I answered so quick I was actually surprised because I know that’s a big decision and I would’ve took my time to think on it 1st but God had other plans for me. Once I was baptized in the name of the father and of the Son an of the Holy Spirit, I felt renew and I was immediately saved from the drinking and partying life style. The going out to that clubs wasn’t exciting anymore and the desire for drinking was gone. Now serving and volunteering at my church became so much fun. I never imagined myself living my life the way I do now by enjoying the things of the Lord only. 🙏🏿

I love the honesty here. Because I think sometimes some of us who been Christians many years forget just how much we’ve changed and how gradual some of it is, and we 1)expect new Christians to be perfect immediately and 2)we forget that we still got a whole lotta changing to do ourselves still. I’ve been guilty of that! Feeling like my fairly young in the faith friend ought to be able to shrug off an insult now that he knows he should. Like, knowledge equals immediate change. And I can get impatient, because I’ve forgotten the sanctification process, and the fight to grow.

the closer your relationship with God, the more you renew your mind through God‘s word the more the things of the world will fade away, become boring and the more you‘ll be in awe of God and filled with contentment, feel spiritually full and the things of God, learning about Him, spending time with Him be it in His word, in prayer or worship, fellowshipping with brothers and sisters will give you so much more than the world ever could. It‘s this juxtaposition of the world thinking you‘re so boring while on the inside you overflow with God‘s richness - not unalike the tabernacle that from the outside looked like some old tent while on the inside it held the biggest treasures and the biggest treasure of them all: God‘s presence. This mirrors Jesus: he looked like any jewish guy of the time, wore the same clothes as the next guy but on the inside… He was the most precious, beautiful, loving, just, powerful of all.. the creator of all, Lord of lords, King of kings… so to be like Jesus often looks like that; that to the world we look like some boring person while on the inside; we have the Spirit of God living within us; the same treasure hidden in the tabernacle.

I no longer feel upset, though I do feel ashamed, when He shows me , reminds me of something really bad/unkind/unloving/hurtful/ugly/ that I did long ago .....now I thank Him! I confess that sin, ask for forgiveness, THANK Him for forgiveness...sometimes I cry, sometimes I am stunned to remember that "small" horrid sin.....and then I really THANK Him for showing me....amen

Preston, I see you when it comes to anger in that way. I thank God that I can rely in Him. My anger has gotten me to points where I’m ashamed, but I literally have to place my dependence on God when I feel that anger begin to rise again. I felt ashamed but I realize I’m human and I’m not those moments in my life. Thank you both for this. Jackie, thank you for bringing this memory up. It truly has helped me this morning❤

Yall im 23 bring me on the podcast bc I have this testimony of the ghettoness of sanctification. And the struggle of being firm in not allowing the enemy, other people, and myself fall into condemnation. I’ve committed some of the worst sins according to the Bible, so the reality of trusting that God really is the guardian of my soul was an everyday battle. All glory to God for giving me the faith to believe in the person of Jesus frfr but it’s not cute and we need the body to learn how to teach the youth and walk with us how the Bible instructs. Y’all are great examples ❤praying for the family.

Jackie was completely right about the whole “fun” thing being a stronghold because when I first got convicted to not drink and smoke anymore, I felt like I wouldn’t be “fun” anymore. I placed my identity and the reason guys liked me or will like me is because I drank and smoked and was fun. the enemy used that on me for a long time, especially with the smoking. But I started asking God for help constantly and asking Him to change Me and SLOWLY but surely He has. My encouragement to whoever reading this is, NEVER stop seeking His face, no matter how many times you fall-He will change your life for the better. 🙏🏽 GREAT ESPISODE 🫶🏽🕊️

I knew I liked Preston…I’m a cigar smoker myself. Thank you for your honesty because Christians be so uptight sometimes it’s ridiculous 😂. I fully believe there can be fun in Christianity but it’s the people that make the experiences not fun. I’ve been asking God to bring me around better friendships that isn’t always about partying. I love to bowl and play uno on a Saturday 😂💯

I would love if they could break this down and with scripture see wassup. Cause ion think it’s right either I get that it’s not getting us high but if our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit then smoke in general isn’t good for the body so wouldnt that be wrong? I’m open to their perspective though

I love you guys are so honest. We are all fall for a short. Revealing our past is totally brave.. But that's what unbelievers and even us Christian need to hear it more often. Not only me or us.. We are all going thru.. But God's grace.. We must step up and keep obeying God. Our past memories are the grace too, cuz God kept us safe and God saved us.. now We can lift others up. We are not nobody who does not understand others now.. We went thru with God so. Amen.

It can be, without our daily dying and willingness to trust God in the process. So glad Cuba didnt turn Preston out. .😅 So God could bring comfort to a woman in another country. Think of all God did to set up her having comfort in her time of need!😮❤

This is a very solid episode. It’s good to know that removing yourself from the ways of the world (sin) doesn’t mean removing yourself from your nature and who you are at the core. Confirmed a lot of false doctrine I’ve been taught! Blessing to y’all! P.S. Now I’m adding “Smoking a cigar with Preston Perry over good conversation” to my bucket list.

Hi 👋🏾 Have you ever sat quietly and long enough with a tablet, pen 🖊️ or your cell phone recorder and just started jotting down or speaking out loud and voice recording for your playback why you’re so angry (like is it a righteous anger? Google the difference between righteous anger vs unrighteous anger) if you don’t truly know the different spectrums. It’s important to know which one you’re dealing with so you can identify if it’s a healthy one (righteous anger) like being angry against the “sins” of others (that’s ok/healthy) but where you go wrong and it becomes unhealthy is when you allow yourself to become angry (with the person) for the sins that they’ve committed (because then we lose sight of the fact that we all (“fall”) short of the glory of God and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (all of us). Does that mean that we (excuse) awful behaviors of others? Umm no! However, we pray, forgive, show grace, mercy, love and all the fruits of the spirit that Christ did (greater works shall we do) and we pick up our daily cross and hold firmly to the our anchor (word of God) daily!! No who you are and whose you are and whenever “anger” knocks at the door 🚪 of your life/your mind/your heart ❤️, treat it just like you would if you got a piece of mail that didn’t belong to you (RETURN TO THE SENDER‼️‼️) Why? Though it showed up at your address, that doesn’t mean it’s meant for you‼️

@@Chosen2healbyGod101 Hey 👋🏾 and thanks for your words. No this is definitely not righteous anger, though I definitely experience righteous anger from time to time. With righteous anger, my reactions are different. There’s uneasiness but still patience there to allow understanding and remember that we as believers will be hated because Christ was/is also hated by the world. This brings sadness, but also confirmation that is also humbling. With unrighteousness anger, the cursing comes out and very fast. Sometimes I just have to breathe and tell myself to calm down. Unfortunately, it’s as simple as that. This main issue is the environment I constantly place myself in to experience this unrighteous/worldly type of anger. All it’s going to take is complete separation from these places that are definitely in my control.

24:29 "God, help purify my understanding of community" Perhaps we ought to go even deeper and ask God to purify our minds so we get to a point where purity is fun since community happens with "like-minded" people. As God purifies our desires, we'll naturally seek out people who enjoy the same things we do
