It's hard , I have similar cupboards 🤔and after 3 years of unhappiness and 4 different ideas 💡 I did pay for pull out draw systems and a very nice handy man , he was great and saved me money on buying the storage shelves at cost and used photos of before and after for his website. This was a knot on my tummy for so long never thought I would be happy 😊 Excited to see more , stay safe stay well xx

I would definitely splurge on the pull out drawers! In my old house we had the same cabinets as our pantry, but they had pull out drawers and it made such a big difference. And in my apartment I lived in before that house, I had a set of cabinets just like this but NO pull out drawers. Such a big difference! Literally life changing :) I personally feel like splurging on them is worth it bc it makes a space we use every day so much more functional. Just my opinion! Can’t wait to see more videos in the new house!

I have those deep pantry cabinets. I built in some shelves in the back to store duplicate items. The risers are great for that. I put what I need on a regular basis in the front. It all works out for us. We have a very small kitchen and need to make use of every space we can.

I love it when you ask us for input! 1) have a bin or shelf dedicated to all baking powder or flour. 2) bin for chocolate chips, raisins, coconut flakes and walnuts. 3) another shelf for cooking books or accordion filling folder for printout recipes. ( I like to file my desert breads to my insta pot recipes). 4) where are the cookie cutters If steps 1-4 are no good. Some people will group together in a box everything what they need to make a common recipe. Also I’m a fan of freezing things, I hate to see food expired to find out it was never open. Darn busy life! Well, hope that sparked pantry joy! 💐

I think that the pull-out shelving you mentioned is available pre-fab, so all you have to do is measure and screw them in place. Maybe your dad could help out with instillation? Just a thought. :) :) It's good to see the wonderful progress you're making. Keep moving forward.

Just thought of this too ..... you may not want to for your own reasons, but I’d buy the stand for the Berkey and take it out of the cabinet. It’s so pretty and they look pretty on the stand. You could tuck it into a corner at the end of a counter maybe. That would open up that one cabinet as well.

Your drawers look really nice. Suggestion: take the ziplock bags out of the box and put them in drawer organizers. I did that and I love it! Maybe store food storage containers with the lids on?

Stackable plastic drawers could be an option for the pantry cupboards. I have these in various sizes all over my house, inside closets, cupboards and my bureau. They come in different depths so I can easily change them around and edit to suit our changing needs. Easy to label and clean too, plus they are quite deep, making good use of awkward spaces and are very affordable.

Jen - thank you so much for sharing your new home and journey getting settled and organized! I can’t wait to see how things turn out. For the pantry: I would put the bulk supplies like flour, sugar, coffee, beans, rice, cereal, etc. in large clear jars and label them. Then for your oils and sprays I’d use a lazy Susan. For snacks I’d keep kid snacks in small baskets on the lower shelf for them to be able to reach. Also, maybe you can find shelf risers for the bottom cabinets and use your large bins to make “drawers” instead of installing them or stacking. I’d also keep water cups next to the berkey for the kids to make it easier for them. I know I’m the student trying to advise the teacher here but I hope that was some helpful ideas lol

I have used freestanding Elfa drawers to replace shelves in a configuration like yours. You may even have some from your previous house that would work depending on the measurements. Probably bins on the top shelves like you have already discovered for less frequently used items. Your new kitchen is beautiful and of course you are doing such a nice job organizing it!

For those deep cabinets, ultimately the best thing would be installed pull out drawers, as you mentioned. You might be able to install them yourself. I have similar pantry cabinets as yours. I use long clear organizers as slide out type utility (but I have to use two hands because the contents are heavy). For eye level cabinets, I don't usually have to pull them out to access them. Plus I have risers to store stuff behind them. I store rarely used larger things in the top shelf. On the bottom shelf, I store heavier bottled and canned drinks.

Pantry cabinet thoughts: I would put extras (or less used items) on highest shelves, but also anything that is glass or that you don't want or need your children to reach. The lower the shelf, the more items for your children- as they get older they can grab their own snacks etc. I also think tiered shelving organizers may be a good idea. If you want a pull out shelf, QVC (and I'm sure Amazon) has metal wired pull outs that you do yourself. Hope this helps! Happy organizing!!

Good to see you sharing your organization. My renovated kitchen has pull out drawers on the lower part of pantry. My old ones where like yours and hard to manage and dark. Good luck finding a good solution.

I think you should add drawers to those cabinets! I have several in my cabinets that are super deep like that, it makes it so much easier! We retrofitted ours, super easy and fairly inexpensive!

Hi Jen try lazy Susan’s for the top cabinets and would suggest pull out drawers/shelves for bottom portions. IKEA may have them and also check Amazon. They are supposed to be easily installed. Good luck and you can do it cause you are amazing❣️

Deep thin, dark Pantry cabinets are so hard to figure out. Could you utilize the upper cabinets above the dish washer as more of your pantry area? Rethink the Bottom Pantry cabinets flanking your frig for other larger items like serving bowls, baking pans etc. You don't have to use them for food Just a thought AND welcome back the old Jen! I so missed your organization videos from years and years ago!

Hmmm 🤔 on the pantry cabinets. They are narrow and deep. I’m not really thinking of any other way, but I’d definitely switch the brown baskets to clear ones just to lighten it up a bit. But I like the suggestion of the mesh pull out drawers another viewer mentioned. I definitely need help in my cabinets as well. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Hey Jen you can use containers with labels that can be stacked on top of each other and labeled like oxo containers. Nice kitchen and you can leave one area for all cans you can get a can organizer to expand your space.

I definitely suggest pull out shelving. The sell them at container store, target, Lowe’s. You can install yourself or have someone help you. I think it would be worth the investment. Otherwise I would store like items together. Use can storage tier stands so you can see what you have. Maybe lazy Susan’s (turning wheel) to store oils. And condiments Clear containers so you can easily identify the items. And match your theme :) I love your new kitchen. Congratulations on your new home!!!!! Can’t wait to see your other organization projects.

I suggest that in the cabinet that houses your Berkey, add all of your kid-friendly non-perishable snacks and kids utensils (cups, plates, etc.). Making these items easily accessible for your kids will help them become self-sufficient, little by little :)

Jen, I have similar cabinets that flank my refrigerator also. I put soft closing pull out drawers in them....it has changed my world! On one hand you lose an inch, and it is more expensive than crate type pull outs. But I can tell you that 1. it was not as expensive as I thought it would be and 2.......was worth EVERY PENNY and then some. It might be something worth exploring. Honestly, I am pretty frugal...but the return is WELL WORTH the investment.

I have a pantry set like yours in my house. I chose to put a larger basket in the back full of back up then use clear smaller organizers in the front to hold the things I use regularly. It has been working for us. Also you could look into just getting a few more shelves so they weren't as tall

Hey Jen! I used to work at The Container Store. They have some simple cabinet pullouts that would work great in your pantry but aren't as pricey! There are wood ones or Elfa ones. I would do those on the lowers then do bins and turntables (makes it so easy to reach what's in back) on the uppers.

I am so jealous of your drawer space. I have only one large drawer in our kitchen. We have a few small, deep drawers by the stove, but the rest are cabinets. We remodeled when we moved into our home in 1999. bit is time for a big remodel. We have done the rest of the house slowly again, but this kitchen needs a more practical footprint for us. I love the look of your house and like the modern farmhouse style too.

I actually bought several of those ballon clips ( the big clear ones and some small ones and use them to keep my chips or tortilla bags and such closed. They are great for that purpose. I got rid off all my other clips that would either slip off or break easily.

I have similar cabinets and I had my handyman build pullout drawers for several of the shelves. We were able to customize how they were spaced for the different items I store in my pantry. They’ve worked out great.

The container store sells elfa pull outs that are way cheaper than custom!!! Worth a shot. We use lazy Susan's for condiments and spices and always try to be creative with vertical storage! My first thought was to put one of everything in the front and then the back ups in the rear bins! But that's coming from somebody who buys 2 of everything!

i will be so interested to see how you organize those cabinets around your fridge -- that is my exact set up -- i have pantry items in cabinets to the left - shelf stable plant milk in cabinet above fridge - and to the right top is cookbooks, candles, miscellaneous jars, bottom cabinet is pots, pans.... i KNOW it can be better -- so will be watching! :)

The sale pull out shelving at Lowe’s and Home Depot for cabinets like that. They are easy to install, and make those deep shelves more accessible. You can also store some of those items in a different set of cabinets, breaking up your food storage a bit. For example, having a baking area, where maybe your mixer is on the counter below the cabinets.

For your skinny pantry cupboards beside the fridge, I was going to suggest pull outs, but you don’t want to do that! Understandable. :) What about getting a shelf similar to the one under your kitchen sink so that you can utilize the vertical space a bit better? Loved the video! 💜

For your cabinets that you asked for advice on, Alejandra Costello, another organizer I follow, did a video last night on some slide out things she bought on Amazon and some containers she used from The Container Store to put inside them. I thought they were great and you might be able to sort your groceries using those so that you don't have to reach too far back! I have the same pantry in my kitchen. Deep. Shallow. On the side of the fridge. My husband put cabinet doors on the side of that. So I can open them from the front or from the side. It helped a great deal.

I love your kitchen. Everything looks great so far! I have a very similar cabinet arrangement around my fridge and I have used the OXO brand clear, square, Pop Containers. They are airtight and stackable. I bought a set at Costco and then just continued to add to them as needed. I am inspired by your categories so I am going to look at rearranging my cooking utensils. Love an organized drawer! Your pantry shelves are very deep....hmmm. I was thinking casters the whole time until you said you'd prefer not to use them. Pulling out and putting back bins gets old after a while. Maybe save up for the casters and deal with the bins in the meantime. I think it would be worth it in the end. I'm curious to read the suggestions of others though!

The nesting bowls look so beautiful on the counter! In my pantry I have been using lazy susans to store oils/vinegars/sauces, and I have put my dry goods in clear containers and jars so I can see them better. I also got a very cool can organizer thing on amazon that you could probably use for nut butters as well. Since your pantry is so deep, maybe you could put in LED string lights and risers to see everything?

My suggestion would be pull outs. It could be costly. Also, clear OXO containers have saved me from wasting food and could see what I have.

I know you said you were looking for an alternative, but I do recommend getting the pull out slider drawers for most of the pantry shelves that will hold smaller/loose food items and cans/jars. You can get them without going custom. We found ours easy to install without having someone to install them - purchased them at Bed, Bath and Beyond, if I remember correctly. I love my pull out pantry sliders. Aside from that, I recommend the larger Linus bins that are clear, so you can see the stored items vs. the brown bins that you have now. Thanks for sharing your organization process for the new house. It may just motivate me to reorganize something in my house.
