I was 7, and knew how bad this was, and couldn't sleep. I went downstairs, to the rec-room, and my parents had left the tv on, very low, so I sat and watched Jack Ruby kill Oswald, on live broadcast. I knew it was very real. Seemed like no one in DC was sleeping. People lights were off, but the bluish lights from the tv's in homes across the street, down the side street, up the street, all were on and I wondered if the entire world was as sad as Americans were that horrible day. I thought of the children, and Mrs. Kennedy, and wrote a letter of condolence to her. I received one in return, thanking me.
@janetphillips28755 ай бұрын
I hope you cherished that letter and that you still have it. You were also lucky that yall had a " rec-room"😂. I admit Im jealous, as we had nothing much, but did a roof over our head. I didnt come along until 1965, but I consider myself an avid researcher. My bf graduated high school in 1972 and he sent a graduation invitation to President Nixon, just for a laugh! To his SURPRISE, he received a letter from Nixons office, saying sorry he couldnt attend, but it also expressed a thank you for ilthe invite and also congatulations. He still has tge letter.

I was 6 years when this happened. All the footage I saw of Kennedy getting shot for decades after didn’t show his head being blown apart. I don’t know if the CIA or other government agencies kept that from the public? Once I saw film into the 90’s is when I saw how badly Kennedy was wounded.
@janetphillips28755 ай бұрын
It was LIFE Mag who had it. They paid Zapruder like $150k for it. Garrison subpeoned it for the Shaw trial. That was the first time any member of " public" saw it. Then, Robert Groden brought a copy on Geraldo Rivera's Goodnight America in 1975. That's when all of America was able to view it. If arobert had not gotten a copy, Life would still have it hidden away, most likely, just like the Paschall film the museum grabbed up for $250k in 1994, and they locked it up. Most of the time, the image was cut out. Zapruder's family received an additional $16M for the film from our lovely govt just a few yrs ago. Yet the Towner's, Nix's , B. Oliver, Bronson, got zero. The only reason Patsy Paschall had hers is because no one knew she had it until '94.

Time-Life bought the rights to the film in 1963, published several frames in Life Magazine omitting the gruesome head shot, then locked the film up, believing it was too brutal to be shown to the public. After the Jim Garrison-led trial in 1969, bootleg copies started to appear and the film was finally shown to a wide audience in 1975 on a program called Good Night America hosted by Geraldo Rivera

There were many other witnesses that were interviewed that actually saw the shots and the timing of the shots. So this documentary is not very thorough. Look for eyewitness interviews at the time. He introduced me in time to several officers who worked the case up close and personal, and they shared their 1st hand knowledge with me. The things I know are profound and special to me. Why did he say Kenny was shot in the back of the head , he was shot in the front of the head.
@aaronz70563 ай бұрын
Because he was shot in the back of the head. Kennedy, in Zapruder's film, clearly shows him suffering a massive exit wound exploding at the right temple, consistent only with a shot from behind. Connally's said the shots came from behind. Autopsy shows the shots came from behind. Parkland doctors had no particular problem with the autopsy photos. Witnesses directly under the sixth floor window firmly said the shots came from directly overhead. All bullets and fragments ever found were matched to Oswald's rifle.

@@garybrewster5657 If Oswald is the shooter, why does the government continue to release all the assassination documentation? No reason, right?
