The EBU wants Luxembourg to qualify and therefore, they've put them in the best spot. It's quite obvious. If Luxembourg can't even qualify, then there is a chance they will not return next year. EBU doesn't want that.

As far as I can see from all the comments who predict the 10 qualifiers from SF1, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Lithuania are most consistently present on various top 10s for SF1. And I would quite agree. All of them except Ukraine are my actual favorites. Ukraine is always an automatic qualifier no matter what they send (which I actually disapprove). About the cursed 2nd place Serbia has, don't worry... There is actually no chance Serbia won't go through. In 1918 Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was formed, this year, Semi final of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was formed and there is going to be an Eurovision final of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 2024. Mark my words. This is not just because of our common history (because we will vote for each other... We absolutely will.), all three songs (SRB, HR, SLO) are actually quality material that is worth to be listened to and receive as many points as it can this year. So is Lithuania. Good luck to everyone.

There are 9 female* singers in the Semi Final 1 and they can’t all go through (stating the obvious here, but think about it - only 10 spots and 9 female singers fighting for spots…). I’m thinking that they will battle each other for spots and the ones that will go through will be songs that are catchy on the FIRST listen + great staging. Not all viewers are fanatic fans like us, and for plenty of them, the first listen is crucial. So going with this thought, coming from the assumption that 4 spots are taken (Croatia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland), I am thinking that Slovenia with Veronika definitely goes through… We have 5 spots left and the female singers are fighting with Azerbaijan and Australia. This is super tough to predict. My assumption is that Cyprus and Luxembourg will seem too similar and the more generic one will lose out (so Cyprus is a no). I am also assuming that the strong Balkan block will help Serbia go through. We are left with 4 spots. Despite the potential Scandinavian block, I doubt that Iceland will make it. The song is simply not strong enough. 😢 I personally love the Poland song (The Tower) but I feel it has slim chances to go through. Especially when sandwiched between Ukraine and Croatia. I’m thinking Australia will surprise and go through. I have to say that I am surprised a lot of people think that Portugal is a shoe in for getting in. I disagree. The song on first listen is NOT catchy. I simply don’t see it going through 😬 The big question is whether Ireland’s Doomsday Blue will be different enough to go through or turn viewers off. I say this because I hated the song on first listen and after hearing it many times I now love it. But hopefully it will have enough support. I’m thinking Luxembourg will manage to get in. And perhaps Azerbaijan - despite being a bit slow for first listen… So unless Finland surprises and does not go through, I’m thinking: 1. Ukraine 🇺🇦 2. Croatia 🇭🇷 3. Lithuania 🇱🇹 4. Finland 🇫🇮 5. Just gonna say that you should not underestimate Moldova. In the past years they've proven time and time again how creative they can be with staging. People thought DoReDos was dead on arrival in 2018 but no one expected the most creative staging of the year. Moldova knows how to engage viewers with the performance, and yes it doesn't 'always' work (2019 for example), I think that In The Middle could still qualify... if Natalia ditches the opera voice, immediately.

I worry for Australia, and it's in my personal top 5. I agree with William, the production of the song is at demo-level, and their live performances are energetic but vocally a little erratic. I also think the package as a whole may be unpalatably alien for a European audience. I also think Serbia, Slovenia, Poland and Cyprus are all in trouble. They're all good enough to qualify, but potentially out of their depth in this semi-final, which is just the luck of the draw. Some others are DOA, but I'm not naming them.

I was listening to the songs in order (or at least most of them...) and frankly, I'm thinking Cyprus might not stay in mind,.... Serbia is strong, Lithuania is strong... Cyprus has a forgettable entry if I''m horribly honest. Don't get me wrong, I like it.... but just listening to the songs made me completely forget about Cyprus , and Serbia came out stronger with a more memorable hook. I would have personally put Serbia in the 2nd part of the first half rather than second. Ireland second, then whatever. Ukraine, maybe.

Disagree with on Ukraine opening the show. It is not the type of song to open the show with. If Croatia address the issues with their staging, they will win this semi final. The front for the televote in the final for me are the Netherlands, and Croatia. Juries will be won by one of Switzerland, Belgium, France, and Italy. At this moment of time, I think Italy could win the contest again this year as it is type of song that would likely do well with both the juries and the televote. France and Belgium may well surprise with their staging.

For me, most hurt by the running order are Serbia (#2 spot), Poland (inbetween two of the favourites to win Eurovision) and also Iceland (coming after Croatia). I have hope that queen Hera could still qualify, but feel Serbia and Poland are out for sure. I think Portugal and Luxembourg will struggle too despite performing in the last two spots. Luxembourg only has Germany (in terms of neighbourly voting), and without juries I feel Portugal will struggle in general! Lithuania performing in the #3 spot is interesting, but Silvester will inevitably pick up good points from both UK and Ireland as usual, and other countries too I'm sure! Biggest question mark/borderline prediction for me is Ireland. #4 spot isn't the best for Bambie Thug and the song is certainly marmite, but could they scrape through? Very interesting Semi!
