@@kaitracksmalgom Same for me. At first glance I was kinda happy to get at least anything Bionicle but also disappointed, because it looks nothing like Bionicle. Man, do I love this video and man do I love this song! No song makes me feel more emotional about Boinicle than this one. This song is a huge part of how I was introduced to the theme with that amazing marketing campaign and ironically (or perhaps fittingly) the song's message applies to Bionicle fans so well. It seemed like everything had been going wrong since 2010. The theme never got to finish it's planned story due to a premature cancellation, the final lets were lackluster, and then a monstrously failed reboot in 2016 that ended even more abruptly than the G1. And then Bionicle was cast into a Dark Age for 5 years with no official products or recognition from Lego. It felt like those hands weren't meant to hold. But even when your hope is gone, you gotta move along, move along and you'll make it through. So when you finally see Lego releasing an official Bionicle built like this after so many years, you know you've right backed what is wrong, and you made it here because you moved along. It's a beautiful message that I carry with me not just in regards to Bionicle, but in regards to life. :-)

WOOOOOO my moc got shown!!!! Fr I love this new tahu and general bionicle style. But all around I just feel so happy as a fan. Right now, in 2022 we're going to see bionicle g1 tahu back on shelves. Bionicle is back, we did it, we won after all these years. It's a kind of happiness for this series I haven't really felt in a while. I'm excited for what the future could hold but at the same time if this is it I think that's enough. I just feel...... content if that makes any sense. And it feels good man.

I'm 27 and I still have my box of bionicles. I made my own characters that now adventure around my moms house. I don't live there anymore but when I go home I move them to different rooms and create different scenes for my mom to find. sorta like unexpected easter eggs for her to run across and ponder during retirement. I've also taken one of the mayoral arms, cast it in bronze and made a motorcycle with a kickstand out of it.

this video is perfect at portraying the way the community has handled this the way g1 bionicle ended felt so sudden, when they just started to expand the universe they finished it with a minimal collection of sets, and then it was revived for g2... which understandabily wasn't the bionicle I know anymore, it was like that part of my childhood didn't get a proper death but this instead is the happy, bittersweet ending I'd want for it, seeing how the brand may have been ditched or changed, but the community is still there some maybe more distanced but still having our memes marked by this, it will always be in our memory, it will never be gone until we are, we can even put together our MOCs and our own fiction lore if we really want to, and that's the beauty of it that won't be gone regardless of the company

I was too young to get bionicle but I was old enough to get hero factory and I know through my appreciation and love of the few bionicle pieces I have that I would have been a big fan had I been just a bit older and seeing the 90th anniversary set made me feel happy for the many that love this series so much and at that point I had hope that lego would continue to use ccbs and maybe one day bring back hero factory or make a new theme so that more children can acquire these amazing lego action figures and see what they can do.

I hope that now, through all that stuff in the community, Lego will have the courage for Bionicle G3. We want it, Lego knows that we want it and I think Lego themself also want Bionicle back but they seem to be a bit unsure wich is understandable, Bionicle is such a big name with a builiding system that's completely different from modern Lego. If done right I think even a system based Character building system could be awesome!
@josephcittadino65412 жыл бұрын
I mean, it doesn't have to be technic anymore. Lego has made great strides with its mech building (see: the monkey kid mechs as an example) so I personally feel that a Bionicle line could be done entirely in system now, unlike back then when system just wasn't refined enough for it. Pretty much the only "specialized" pieces they'd have to make would be the masks and weapons, and even in that case the weapons at the least could find a home in a lot of other system MOCS pretty easily. I'd personally just do it like Exo Force...a line of entirely system-build robots/mechs, but instead of being traditional "mechs with a pilot" they'd be the Bionicle character we know and love. Since a big selling point of Bionicle in the past was its accessibility, I can imagine the Toa and their "evil counterparts" (Bohrok, Rakshi, Visorak etc...) being about the same size, scale, piece count(?) and most importantly, price point, as the smaller Marvel mechs (which as far as I know where $9.99, ironically the same price as an OG G1 Toa back in the day. I don't know if recent inflation has changed that though), which are all actually fairly good robots despite the scale and price. Mid-sized sets could be things like Rahi, other mid-ranked enemies, and possibly "premium" Toa with vehicles or exo-toa style armor (think OG Takunuva with his hoverbike) while Teridax/"Makuta" and other big titans like him would be the big, $100.00 + sets alla the Monkey Kid mechs.
@alexthematoranlegoreviewsu66222 жыл бұрын
@@josephcittadino6541 Yeah I could totally see that happen! With all the new pieces buildable figures can be personalized like never before! Just think of G1 Bionicle, many parts didn't really fit to one another, with every piece having a specific use in mind and just a few counterparts that really connect to it. And then look at the new Iron Man. This figure is more meant for display though, but it shows us, that with plates, slopes and SNOT you can have basically every design you wish for without having to create entirely new pieces to resemble, say, a limb. And no more need for clone sets! I don't blame Lego for doing clone sets back in the day, the different groups of characters needed to look like a team, but with system you can transfer the team look without copying the exact build! System has become quite powerful over the years. They still can use ball and socket connections and some basic pieces left over from the CCBS/constraction era, but I honestly don't see any reason why they shouldn't make Bionicle in system. Question is, would another Bionicle run sell well enough? I guess if Lego really wanted to bring it back, they could start small with a cannister sized standalone set or also a bigger D2C/18+ set, that way they could test if there's still a market for it. Just imagine, a Great Spirit Robot system set, fully movable, with all the islands inside the robot and functions to simulate the stages of beeing forced to sleep to beeing fully re-awakened and taken over by Teridax😍 I would buy it👍🏻
@josephcittadino65412 жыл бұрын
@@alexthematoranlegoreviewsu6622 I mean, if its system I think it would sell just fine...also, you don't need to use contraction joints....system has its own joints (mixel joints,_, and they are actually designing a brand new, system-based CCBS building system that they will be introducing in an upcoming Ninjago wave. Like, Monkey Kid sells just fine and its a very mech-heavy line. So as long as Bionicle g3 is in system and not technic/old school CCBS, I think it would sell fine. That being said, I think they really would need to get some of the old guard from G1 back on the project to craft the story and aesthetic/feel of it. One of the big reasons g2 flopped in my opinion was the drastic change in aesthetic and feel. G2 went from the mysterious, "alien," and dark/foreboding yet inviting and cool feel to basically just feeling like a bogstandard, light-hearted, Ben 10 or Skylanders style kids action cartoon....aka feeling more like Ninjago than Bionicle. Part of what made Bionicle stand out among a sea of other kids toys back in the day was that unique feel....it just felt so.... different...If they wanted to sell the theme to kids again, I feel they'd need to recapture that old feel and asthetic, albiet with a modern twist, just so it stands out against other system lines like Ninjago. Ninjago and Monkey Kid already fill the "light-hearted kids action cartoon feeling line" niche, so I feel for Bionicle to sell, it should go more for the serious/dark, foreboding, yet inviting and cool feel G1 had as opposed to the Ninjago-y/kids action cartoon-y feel g2 had. If they tried to go light-hearted and kids cartoon-y like they did with G2, it would just get lost among the sea of similar-feeling lego themes (Ninjago, Monkey Kid, Marvel etc...) Adult bionicle fans would eat the line up regardless, while adult system fans would be down if the builds are good enough, or give enough solid system pieces that can be used elsewhere. Kids will be the hardest demographic to market it to for sure, which is why I'd feel they'd need at least some of the old G1 guard back to re-capture the G1 feel and really make it stand out and feel different when put next to themes like Ninjago and Monkey Kid. They also, obviously, would need to make the story available to new generations. Heck, since Bionicle g1 already has such a great story that's already written, instead of trying to reboot the seires' lore and story again I'd just recycle G1's world and story, and retell it for a new generation in a new format that resonates with them more. Instead of comic books and flash games, maybe youtube videos, mobile games/apps, and a Netflix/streaming series. The adult fans would love to see their old favorit characters back in a new, system form, while the kids would get to experience the same, amazing story, world and lore us old fans got but in a way that resonates with them. While this marketing would take a fair chunk of money for sure, Bionicle has enough of an established adult fanbase that if Lego was convinced they could at the least make back what they spent on said marketing off the adult fans alone, I don't think its out of the question, considering how hard the Bionicle fanbase has been going to make Lego notice them as of late. Heck, the fact they are introducing a system version of CCBS in an upcoming Ninjago wave is a VERY good sign. You don't make an entirely new building system just for one wave of an established theme like Ninjago. So there is a distinct possibility that said new system was designed with a system Bionicle in mind, and that its introduction in Ninjago is a way for them to "test/trial" the system and see if it has enough potential to be the basis for a system Bionicle g3 down the line.

Kinda made me remember this reiew on Steam: I've had my heart broken several times in my life. Once, on Christmas Day 1989, I eagerly ran downstairs and gasped at the sight of what was clearly a crudely but lovingly wrapped skateboard. A skateboard that I had wanted ever since I had seen Marty McFly cruise through the streets of Hill Valley as a stowaway behind an unsuspecting SUV driver. A skateboard with a custom deck, with artwork that would cause my fellow skaters to shout "rad". A skateboard whose wheels would send me gliding across the streets as I headed for the nearest half-pipe. A skateboard of majestical proportion. I grabbed it, and with shaking hands and a heart beating against my chest, I tore that festive wrapping as hard as I could. Through an intricate web of sticky tape, ribbon and ever expanding wrapping paper, I dug through. Years later, I wondered that this is what Andy in The Shawshank Rdemption must have felt like as he dragged hinself through the tunnels. My own redemption was in sight. My prize was near. Finally, the last shred of packaging fell away to the floor. And there it was... a plastic skateboard from the local store. With stiff plastic wheels. And a picture of a clown on the deck. That's what playing Aliens: Colonial Marines felt like.
