I feel like Rob Liefeld's superheroes are like when you play a superhero MMO (Champions Online or DC Universe Online), and it has like a customization screen, where you can pick from a number of already existing traits, so every superhero ends up resembling some other superhero.

Really dug your thoughts on characters like Conan, the Shadow, and The Phantom. I get to play in The Phantom sandbox for Frew/King Features in Australia, and scribble and ink pages while listening to your shows and thoughts on comics, and the Wizard era, so naturally agree that these characters legacies in stories need to live on for the next gen, definitely at least to discover the cartoonists around the world who write and draw these stories. Keep up the fantastic content, pointing out a whole range of cartoonists beyond the big two, and expanding reading lists. I also have a greater appreciation for what the image guys did. As an aside, I have my own inspirational (and comically awkward) Todd McFarlane story from a decade ago at a con here in Aus, I’ll share if you guys care, but absolutely dig when he speaks his mind and drops some science. Cheers from Australia, Gents.

Knight Sabre is lifted from Bubblegum Crisis, a Japanese anime OAV series from the 80’s. The heroes in that are the Knight Sabers. Classic Liefeld lifting names from other media. 🤷♂️
@russworks28825 жыл бұрын
Seeing those new Youngblood characters reminds me of what Alan Moore made of them in the Judgement Day series. He could take the most shallow, knockoff characters and find some new weird twist in them. Troll and Knight Sabre both turned out to be a lot stranger than we thought...

hey all, I can tell ya how Shi became a success-Billy Tucci hustled the book like young bands go on tour. I met him at a comic book store in 94 where he was selling the first issue 1. Crusade promos even used tour as a term to describe con appearances. Even yall describe encountering him at public appearances. Like another long island institution (where me n billy are from/live) Blue oyster cult-built fans one show at a time.
