I wasn't aware of any Wizard beef with Caliber... I don't think anything was edited out of what I wrote, it was just an oversight on my part for not mentioning them! To be fair, I was in contact with Bendis directly at the time. He had been sending me his comics for a while before I got around to interviewing him. Caliber is mentioned in the FYI section of the Picks column with their address and phone number.

For future videos, I'd like to see: Steve Rude (Nexus), Paul Chadwick (Concrete), Joelle Jones (Ladykillers), Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise), Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Mike Allred (Madman), Matt Wagner (Grendel), Dave Stevens (Rocketeer) and Simon Bisley (Slaine the Horned God). Even those you have already done episodes on are deserving more attention.

My man! Jimmy coming in with the Blade respect! I must've had the conversation about how that film saved Marvel along with proving these characters were viable for film adaptations a hundred times in the season that the Black Panther film dropped. It's ironic since Snipes only did Blade because he couldn't get BP off the ground. Couldn't have happened better. Blade still ranks as my favorite Marvel film.

Hey! The Super Man cover was the FIRST Wizard I bought as a kid. I was looking forward to this video for three years now. I even became penpals with a girl through the penpal advert section.

There was another Planets comic center in Norman location outside of Oklahoma City. That was my comic book company, one comic book store when I was growing up.

Love when you guys talk Wizard. I have this issue with the Superman cover. It's interesting with the talk about the Superman TAS how they wanted that Boy Scout mantra away for the character because for the longest time that had and continues to plague Supes. There is a difference being a leader and being a boy scout. He is much more interesting when that stigma is not placed

Since you asked Ed... take a look at the Polish comics I've sent. Jim's got them I guess. Most of them may be interesting only for their art (due to language) but there are few in English (e.g. Postapoland) and at least one silent (Mr Silence) and there are those TMNT/Jack Kirby homage zines. Around 20+ issues of diffrrent artists so a lot to pick from.

Aside from the Simpsons cover, the only other one of note was issue #30's Beavis and Butthead, but I believe Marvel were putting out their comic at the time, and I'm not sure if you'd class MTV as being indie. I'm suddenly reminded of that Cassidy special. It had a Neil Gaiman parody character turn up, and I've always wondered what Gaiman and Ennis' relationship was, and whether it was friendly or not, because that joke was well fruity.

Regarding the Invisibles. I would suggest reading the trade paperback Bloody Hell In America, which is a decent introduction to the characters in a self-contained episode.

Agreed. I actually bought the first issue when it came out based on a review in SFX magazine, but I hated Dane as a character, so it never grabbed me. When I randomly picked up the volume 2 TPBs years later I was utterly hooked. I think the art helped enormously, but the story was effortlessly cool.

26:06 I stumbled onto the The Darkness video game review by Grim beard and there's a section that features the difference between the game and the comic. More or less got the the Crow treatment in stripping (streamlining?) down the story.

I shopped at Planet at the time. I remember going to the shop that day and being met by what turned out to be a plain clothes. I know Mike a little, not friendship status, but I am friends with some of his friends. I think he's doing his own comics now. It was an awesome store that had grown a lot since the 80's, punch to the gut when it closed.

They Live! Classic movie, no doubt. However, I'd love it if we lived in a world where, upon someone hearing the name Keith David, one thinks of Men at Work first. Sorry, I'll...I'll show myself out.

Wolverine #88 is good but Adam Kubert splits art duties on that ish. I think Wolverine 75, 77 or 90 would be a better sample of his greatness on display

You guys aren't gonna like where Basic Training goes. I feel like by 70 it's just the guest artist showing off what they're known for/good at, and the advice wasn't very practical.
