I just had a god run with full armor build and cerberus guantlets. I was so invulnerable and healing more damage then i could take to the point i did a roundtrip 10x and i couldn't even react to the bosses attacks anymore but could tank everything anyway. I thought stage 3 Sura was gonna be the same. He fucking melted me.

First time I went up against phase 3 Sura I had a 95% evade build + guaranteed evade on dash. Sura deleted me in under 30 seconds. The only way I've managed to beat phase 3 was by using a ludicrously luck chaos/crit build with the Insignia of Legend pared with portal dash and flashy boots for i-frames. Dude is basically impossible to beat with out a god run.

According to wiki -> Additionally, Third Phase Sura's attacks completely ignore percentage based evade (provided by Shift, Antiquated Tabi, Nog's Heavenly Boots (etc) and will deal damage regardless, even if evade chance exceeds 100%. Guaranteed evade such as Puffy Parka, Evading Zephyr, Cassim's Airy Cloak or Leemo's Leaf still functions as normal, preventing damage.

…well that explains my very recent and rather disastrous encounter with Sura 3: Double damage from Nog’s Heavenly Boots just melts evasión builds. But now I know!

I'm sure Master Sura enters at least the top 10 of the most complicated bosses of Roguelikes (at least in a normal run, I'm almost sure that this guy used the glitch of the tutorial to have an inventory full of the items he chooses before the run). After MANY attempts, I managed to beat it without using it in glitch, having extreme luck both in what I got during the run, and in the battle against it.

You only take one (1) damage from each of those hits and each of those individual ticks, that's how much armor you had. And Phase 3 still brought you down just about 300 HP (691, down to 392) Jesus, this dude is nuts...

The following relics will give up to 79% armor once their respective conditions are reached: - Robe!Rule = 15% - Neve's Emerald = 20% - Helm of Midas = 20% - Jade's Chakra Locker = 12% - Thesis on Defense =12% To get the last armor points with only shop relics, you'd need the Heavy Travel Jacket with at least 21 total relics, which requires at least 2 relic bundles If you only need armor for Sura Phase 3, Memory Chain adds another 16% Otherwise, you'd have to use at least two of the cursed relics: - Golden Armor of Envy = 16% - Tortoise Shell = 20% (20% damage penalty) - Armor of Green = 12% (lose gold on hit, which is an anti-synergy with Helm of Midas) If you're planning on face-tanking, add in Blades of Mercy, Sano's Headband, and either Stygian Turtle Shell or Cassim's Airy Cloak. After taking damage, you'll have two seconds to unleash as many arcana as possible to regain any lost health or just deal damage. I'm still not entirely sure if the effects can overlap, so take this section with a grain of salt. Also, note that the Blades of Mercy hsve a cooldown, meaning Sura can absolutely stll burst you down.

Hello! I’m Mr. 14 months late. I just beat my first run in wizard of legend, hence why I’m here. You are definitely right that Sura’s third phase is absolutely bonkers, and should definitely be tweaked to be more fair. On the other hand, it does serve as an ultimate final challenge where utmost skill and luck are required to succeed, like the gold stake in Balatro. Seeing as it is optional, I think it’s pretty cool there’s an insanely hard phase that only the most skilled players will defeat. Also, getting seven earth arcana isn’t that hard: start off with four and get three more, no?

Basically, it’s not that well designed or fair, but it serves well as the final challenge, and the fact that it’s optional means you could simply “not play it.”
