Wizard101: Pets Could Change FOREVER!

Since this is a longer video, here is a quick summary of some things I'd like to see changed: Hatching cost: this should be lowered to a maximum of 100k for 2 mega pets, even lower if the pets are not mega Hatching timer: there is no reason this should be 12 and 24 hours. If the timers are this long, lower the gold to hatch the egg instantly to something reasonable (10k-20k gold) 2 Talent search: rather than limit the talents we can select for searching, make it so pets that are no longer in the kiosk won't show up in the search Let me know what you all think! 100% agree, if they keep prices and they way hatching occurs come from test realm to live realm, you’d take weeks possibly months just to get one specific pet you want, which defeats the whole purpose of getting a companion for battle.

I know this is completely irrelevant but, what if you can have more use for monstrology? I came up with the idea of caslte raid in which your monstrology monsters protect your castle from invading players. You would start with the castle raid banner and you can see raidable castles and the difficulty. Their can also be a leaderboard with rewards to who invaded and defended. Plus if the invaders lose the caslte ower gets the raiders money as a reward but its scales off. Idk i just think its an idea that can be use to make monstrology more fun. I hope you guys like this idea so it can possibly be implemented into the game.

Honestly, KingsIsle shouldn't change the costs of hatching at all. Hatching costs are balanced where they are at, and anything higher will simply make hatching that much harder for newer/younger Players. The hatching timers should also remain unchanged. If you want to hatch again, you can use Hatching Peppers to craft an Elixir or do a few minutes worth of Trivia/Earn Crowns for an Elixir!

How many times do we have to tell them that the entire community (all sides of it from PvP to PvE) is united against this update. It not only hurts existing players, but also discourages new players from ever getting involved in the pet making process. KI is oblivious as usual.

I just started playing again 5 days ago (after almost a decade away lol) and was somewhat discouraged by the 50k hatching cost of the gloomy eye I wanted and it took me 3 tries to finally hatch it. Thank Christ I did it before this update or I’d have given up on hatching pets entirely

Realistically if they do this they have to remove the gold cap in the game. I waste so much gold cause i just always have max gold cap. if they dont then this update is one of the worst they've ever put out.

Something key to note here is the fact that they are expanding the amount of options for Gold purchasing. This is a very obvious attempt at monetizing a platform that was most likely 'too accessible' for them to be satisfied. I guess the amount of crowns people dump on Instant Hatch and Timer Reset elixirs, coupled with Energy elixirs for training, wasn't good enough for them. This is a very obvious, predatory change that is definitely not welcome, and if this ends up making it to live realm, I think that more people than ever will drop off, because it will be just another nail in the coffin as to how overlooked the Wizard101 Feedback is in general, and players are starting to get very tired of it. We aren't 10 year olds making a fuss for the sake of it, but rather people who have been at this game for over a decade now, and the direction it keeps moving is driving us all away.

This was a very fun game back in 2010 when i started. Played ftp for 2 years until my parents bought me those prepaid gift cards. When i was able to buy my own stuff i put money into the game and maxed out etc. Due to their greed however i found it wayyy too expensive to casually play, so i would drop off one year on one year off. Now i dont think i ever want to come back because it seems all they do is change the game in ways that profit them with nothing being offered to the player base in terms of content. Sure there's new gear and dungeons, but the game itself as an entity is fucked. I know many of the old accounts think like i do and the newer players will soon realize it as well, Greedsisle has gone too far yet again.

Honestly, at this point, Kingsisle is killing the game, and at the WORST possible time too! With a higher influx of people coming on due to quarantine, there is literally NO POINT in doing this. If this does go live, A LOT of the player base will stop hatching to feed their greed, or straight up just drop the game. Which in the long run is just stupid on their part.

TyBy It’s easy if you’ve done the right prep work... I.E farm late game bosses for Evil Magma Peas or Couch Potatoes to start building a mega snack collection, stock up on those.... Mirror Lake runs in ZF. After that, you just need patience. It isn’t hard, you just have to persevere and try everyday until you get the pet you want. And honestly if you just wait on timers instead of using crowns to streamline it, you’d have a perfect pet in 2-3 weeks with spending 30-60 minutes a day on your pet... EZ. This new change will essentially double that time if you don’t want to pay crowns or gold to streamline it, as well as cost well over twice the gold. Maybe doesn’t make it any harder, but more inaccessible for sure.

They lowered the cost to hatch pets in the Pet Hatchery. I think they are trying to get more people to hatch together rather and just use the Kiosk. I think the costs are a little high, but understand what they are trying to do.

As a person who is relatively new to pet training with no max level characters, this SUCKS. I rarely sustain 150k+ gold for more than a day or 2 of gameplay. The highest level character I have is 106 and it seems impossible with the new update to effectively make pets without draining all of my account gold.

I agree that hatching pets should only be 100k a hatch if it is absolutely necessary to increase it; its faster to train now, so it makes sense why they did that, but they didn’t really need to do that. Hatching timers should for sure be a super low amt especially after you’ve spent 100K+ just to hatch. Only being able to search for 2 talents has to be the dumbest thing ever. You can sift through the pets trying to find the talents you want, albeit it will take longer, it won’t stop people from finding what they want. I feel like they are trying to make the more grindy so people inevitably have to spend more money because they are sick of the grind. They really need to listen to what the community wants to improve the game. As much as I love this game, there’s a reason it never really blew up big, they have become greedy and don’t listen or give us enough updates. No, you don’t have to give weekly updates like fortnite, but be more consistent in order to keep people drawn to the game and to draw more people in. They’re making money because we play, so KI, please listen to us and we will continue to play and spend money. Sincerally, A wiz head since 2011 who has spent an ungodly amount of hours and money on this game.

Also worth noting is that in-person hatching costs have increased similarly, with a max cost of around 80k gold. If these changes ship, I'm probably going to give up on pursuing perfect pets entirely. At that point it simply won't be worth the effort, resources, and personal sanity to pursue 2.0 pets. I don't think I'll be able to recommend Wizard101 as a game worth playing if getting a usable pet (the most important part of your build) is this difficult from scratch.

I used to play Wizard 101 years ago and have been considering coming back to the game, but so far I have been seeing Kingsisle being greedy and uncaring about its player base. I don't understand how they think squeezing their player base for all it's worth is a good plan when making content their players actually likes would be a much more sustainable source of income. Gold cost is way too expensive for hatching now. Thank goodness I dipped my toes a little bit into the hatchmaking business before the update. It was still a decent 40-50K hatch cost, but wow. This is ridiculous. Don’t anyone dare get on my case and tell me how easy it is to farm late game bosses and garden emps and cps. Don’t got the ability to throw around money and credit cards? -> no membership. I literally have done trivia for the past I don’t know. No membership -> no access to late game bosses or mobs that drop useful crowns items or valuable gear to sell for gold -> no gold for anything -> no gold for pet hatches -> game experience sucks Like. Blaze has said, this update is only hindering players and pushing away/intimidating newer players Also, 5:31 why have all those boxes for talents to search for when we can only choose 2!!??

Once the Five BOXES comes back, you could try farming that for Couch Potato seeds. Fishing for catch of the day and in Castle Tours is also a great method to get gold.

“What the hail we gonna do now”. To any new player, casual spender, or the player who spends as little money as possible to be somewhat the best (me) this update is only driving us away. Like i’ve never been into the whole “KI is dying”, in fact I 🙄 at people who do that, but i’m serious when I say that 15% of players will jump ship if this comes to live realm (and not look back). I don’t have good energy gear just lying around, i don’t have massive amounts of gold, I don’t have the money to spend on all of this, and I don’t have the time to waste on this. The best thing they could honestly do is just leave it the way it was. Don’t fix what ain’t broke. We didn’t need demolition, we only needed a renovation

Why would they do this, I just started a new wiz and planned on making a new pet soon but now it's just gonna be super hard again to get pets with the stats we want. With all the FTUE updates, then this...it seems a bit counteractive don't you think? KI wants to keep their new players by upping their questing experience, and introducing them to the game. That makes sense, cool. But if you have that mindset, in what world is this a good idea? Not only do you turn those new players away from the hobbies, even older players could stop being so active on them. I just can't see what they're thinking. Hobbies like pets and gardening is just made harder as these updates come out, they don't *up* the experience, it just makes things more tedious, which would just turn away newer and older players from those elements.

KI’s motto is “One step forward 3 steps back”. These changes are worst than I thought since I don’t have access to test realm. I agree with your proposed changes in that 100k gold max for a mega pet with mega pet hatch (should scale down accordingly) & that if it’s 24hrs then we can spend 10-20k to hatch instantly or keep the dang timers at 5 - 10minutes maybe 1hr max. It shouldn’t be 24hr & 12 hr timers with another 250k + gold to instantly hatch. Ironically, ATS had more of an issue with the energy increase than the gold & timer increase. I’m also not okay with an energy increase as that’s indirectly incentivizes players to buy energy elixirs more now. Not everyone has good or any energy gear (from crowns packs) so this is another burden added on top since it’s now less efficient energy wise than before limiting how much value players get per training game assuming players have mega snacks to begin with. There should be a no gold cap or a Wizard City Bank to more efficiently store gold. We should also be able to search by 5 talents like you stated. These changes go against the kiosk’s original idea to make the pet process easier & more accessible. Its not like they’ve addressed the real issue of pet talent fails so until we have a way to counter that rng & better control talent manifestation, I sincerely hope this gets seriously reconsidered as there’s too many cons.

its a shame that im just now getting into the pet aspect of w101... this is ridiculous. im already having trouble getting the perfect pet for my main, and its not like i have much time to get great pets for the rest of my wizards before this test realm goes live. the timer is also HORRENDOUS. overall just a really, really bad update... the pet game mastery addition isnt even exciting anymore because of all of the other changes.

HK 47 Unfortunately the update is gonna be out very soon. I dont know what level you are but if you can go to wintertusk then farming halfang in vestrilund is your best option. He drops atleast one piece of gear every battle that gives a few thousand at the bazaar or more. For snacks you should definitely do gardening. Couch potatoes and evil magma peas give a mega snack when you harvest at elder but you have to farm enemies for those. The ice bears in the first grizzleheim area can drop potatoes.

the fact that this is all the community is talking about in an otherwise INCREDIBLE test realm says a lot. the hatching cost is ABSURD. egg timers i personally dont have a problem with beacuse it does not limit players just slows them down. The strangest one imo is tallent search like why would you think i would rather not want to be find the pet i want instantly. all this new update will do is slow it down!! im still gonna find the pet i want with 5 tallents and then go and find out its not there again having wasted more time in a kiosk. i'm disapointed but not mad when i find the pet i want in a second. im gonna be mad when i find the same pet but it took me 15 mins to find out i cant hatch with it.

I am 51 yrs old, been playing for 10 yrs. Am watching game become greedy. New activities are mostly now involving paying with crowns..a lot of crowns! These bundles..like 11 thousand crowns, for a fake item and a pack of some sort, a pet and a pack..basically 25.00 for two items! All the while trying to make it seem like you are getting a deal! No, we are being ripped of our real money. Show us cool items, but by the time you get to level of 'free' item you have spent hundreds of dollars ???? Love this game but it's become money hungry

With the amount of hatches I do, I always end up getting an 'OK' pet in the end and the price of gold isn't worth it, they should at least make it to where you can change one trashy talent that a pet gets for another of your choosing, one time thing for each pet and pay it with either tons of gold or crowns.

the question isn't "should it be 150k?" it should be "is the game better without this update?" I don't think people should be settling for a reduction to the increase, they should reject it all

I don't like any part of this change. Low lvl players don't have energy gear to compensate for the energy cost increase. Low lvl players can't earn gold easily and have to suffer with bad hatches. This means hatches will fail MORE often then they already do. The hatch timer increase is terrible. You hatch a pet and are excited to start training it right away. You can't do anything now as a low lvl player. This is a way to force impatient people to fork over crowns. KI - even your whales are going to get sick of this and then you will have no incoming revenue. This is terrible for your business.

The only problem that I have with increasing the cost of hatching pets by 3 times the original amount, Is why increase the cost in the first place? Just because people will be able to train pets faster then ever before if that's the reason then what is wrong with that, Let the players have FUN, Training pets is already very time consuming and take a lot of resources to do, so why not make it easier it will make more people want to do it and allow people to do, There is absolutely no excuse to increasing the cost of hatching a pet and increasing the hatching timer. LET PLAYERS HAVE FUN THAT IS THE POINT OF PLAYING GAMES.

Glad you are speaking up about this. KI has proven they dont care about what most of their supporters think, but for someone like you with a large crowd, your voice may be heard. Everything about KI these past few years has revolved around money. Maybe they figured by doing this, it will make the new players think that they should buy gold for crowns in the crown shop, hence KI profitting off of them.

The gaming changes and design decisions should be made based on bringing people back with amazing and innovative ideas and conveniences (like Item/Gear sets, counters for multiple items that spatially stack on the UI, etc.). You're spot on about these updates making Pet Hatching look grim and intangible for newer/mid-level players looking to root themselves into building a decent pet as they build their experience and commitment to the game. Those ridiculous gold prices and the gold cap make Pet Hatching even more comparable to mowing the lawn with a single box cutter. Godspeed....or is it goldspeed, now(?)....to you all.

I recently started playing again and made a new account, pets are very important so the first thing i did was get a pet, i grined for 2 weeks getting gold, now imagine a level 20 trying to get 150k gold and needing to hatch 3 times for pet not too fail, the game is now set up for higher level players

Puppet What neverlandia said isnt right at all. The pet talents are determined the second you hatch, after that you just train to find out what you got. Best way to do it is to hatch over and over with the new baby once you get it to adult until your talent pool matches the one you’re going for. After that it’s pretty much luck based and you decide whether you want to train further depending on if you’re getting the right stuff. I hope that made some sense lol.

i used to play this game years and years ago and recently got back into in the last 3 months or so. 10 years ago and even now I haven't gotten into pet hatching because I thought it was the hardest and most complicated thing to do. But now that I really enjoy the game I was just about to start pet hatching and trying to figure it out. but now with this being a low level wizard (with no high level wizards either) this is just going to make it impossible to advance as a player! Let along compete with other veteran players. because as a low level wizard I thought that 50k was already alot of gold to be spending on a pet when I already needed to worry about gear and TCs but now with it being 160K for one egg thats my entire gold base gone.

Increasing the price of pet hatching seems really bizarre to me. Getting gold is excruciatingly easy, if this is a ploy to get people to buy gold from the crown shop i doubt it's gonna work unless they make getting gold more difficult, in which case I'm sure people will start making an even bigger uproar.

I agree with you. They're making it harder for new players. The gardening change really sucked when they gave double rewards on everything except the seeds. And as you said, pet training is time-consuming enough as it is.

As someone who's been around since the first pet change this new update seems to be taking away so much of the good they added through the original update. Now there are some good things like the happiness stat and the instant feeding ,but they for sure need to fix this.

KI doesn't listen to the fans. Really never has, never will. Period. They don't change things things for the fans they change things for themselves. Look at it. The entire game is a cash grab! Haven't they made the game hard enough money wise? 5 dollars gets you nothing in game. Like, in other games I could get a decent ammount into it with 5 dollars. But not this game. What I think would be cool. To me. Going from Mega to Ultra is a waste and not worth me doing it. But if something cool would happen when you reach Ultra then that might be worth doing it. Like when your pet gets Ultra. He becomes DOUBLE his normal height & size. Now this to me would be awesome.

I've been on and off playing Wiz101 since I joined in 2008 and I can't believe they are making hatching harder than it already is. I never had any motivation to hatch good pets before the kiosk because its just wayy too grindy and time consuming, and even with the kiosk, I prefer not to level my pet unless there is double xp. This update passing just makes hatching 100x more unapproachable and so not worth. I just recommended this game to one of my friends in Jan and even before this update, its been impossible for him to even get a chance to get an ideal life pet without having to spend a large amount of time grinding. nice job KI, loosing more business out of greed.

KI isn’t going to help new players get started with pet hatching. Obviously hatching a pet is very stressful and takes a long time. To get the talents you want sometimes due to mega pets failing. Last second doing this will make getting that “perfect” pet. Much harder for existing and new players sadly. I feel they want people to buy gold with money nobody would do that. But KI is always about wanting money from players instead of adding. Helpful and useful updates to improve the community and game.

Pet hatching is the most bogus thing in the game in my opinion. It should not take the investiment in crowns/gold and especially TIME that it does to get a pet you actually like with the talents you want it to have. Example. I want my ice to have 5 damage talents ooops I got myth proof when he reached adult.. time to go on again and do the same thing again for another lump of money over a couple days. You end up paying like 800,000 or more gold to get the pet with the talents you want. (it takes more than 1 or 2 hatches in case those reading my comment don't know usually around a dozen) A nice thing would be to make the little games in the pet pavilion actually worth it. Ya know so that it is actually better to do one of those mini games instead of failing the dance game so you can feed a snack for the best exp to time ratio. Or what I would LOVE to happen is there be a daily quest (or 5) for pet exp. Like do this quest pet gets 120 exp. I don't know just trying to toss something and see if it sticks.

Basically, everyone can put their own pet in it and let others hatch with that pet. The thing people usually do is find the exact one they want, hatch with it, train the new baby to adult and then hatch with the same pet again until the list of talents match eachother. Idk if that makes sense but I tried lol.

There are players that are happy to offer hatches to people do they too can get crown pets. I think this will stifle such generosity since it will be so prohibitively expensive.

I think if they make the costs any higher they need to make the pet better as a whole (higher cast rate, stats) because it makes no sense to drop hella money on a pet just for it to watch you die in the catacombs
