but some things i miss is the old friends list look it was simple and i think was much more to the point. also tha feeling of going to them hold haouses it was something about them that just make u want to hang out in them those og houses we dont see them no more the original celestia quest with the hole celesita door key was stolen and u go to marleybone to a tower fight this hard boss first cheating boss well if u didnt finish that quest ucannot fight that boss or do that tower but if u did finish it u can go back and do it again i could not finish it so idont have acess to it but it was cool i miss old versions of the bosses like the verry old version of dragonspyre malistaire when he had 100k health and his wife as a minion who would cheat and spam rebrith on you to help you beat him that was fun back then great thing for a final boss but they changed dragonspyre malistaire so much he only does rank 2 spells now its just so bad the master of duel can only do rank 2 spells now it coudl go on 4 ever but thats just some of the things i miss

My what I miss story is tragically sad. I’m going to tell it though because life goes on and the memories though bittersweet are still precious. Starting in 2011 Wizard101 became a family affair. We had 4 generations playing! It was awesome. I could buy my grandkids gifts right in the game. We live a couple hours away and with my I’ll health I didn’t get to travel much to see them. We played nearly everyday. Even my mother played until a few months before she died at 83. My husband who is also passed away played. Grandkids, niece, nephew we had so much fun. I’m the only one left that still played. I’ve taken long breaks but I’m back with a new account. Took me awhile. My husband’s death was traumatic and playing kept reminding me of that and the loss. But I’m absolutely enjoying playing now, meeting people, making new friends and on good days, making people laugh. Technically wise, I miss Team Up. It’s broke

@@ayahshopemy grandma passed 2019 js hopped on the game for the first time since 2017 n kinda hurt to see her old characters still added on my acct ; she used to grind the levels out for me on my account cause I hated questing and in return would get her warlord on her characters so she could get the robes cause she would stress so much in PvP lol reading your comment help me feel like I wasn’t the only one going through something similar w the game glad to hear your playing again

For me the 3rd point you made about not having membership and running gauntlets and trying to get as high as you can really struck true for me. That was definitely the most fun I had in the game. I totally get what you mean. I remember when I kept saving up crowns and eventually I bought the comet boots as my first purchase. Low and behold I had no clue how useful those comet boots were today in the nightmare maze XD

!!!No Membership Gang!!! I can definitely agree with a lot of your points and i remember when wizard 101 came out, all the commercials got me soo excited to play! Actually ever since I found out about WoW I was HOOKED on mmorpgs, but since I didnt have any money (being young) I looked toward other mmorpgs I could play. Played Wizard even though I couldn't get past the paywall and whether it was farming the kraken and watching others fight him or going to the Fire/Myth/Ice etc. school parties, it was a lot of fun! I came back to play recently since I could finally buy myself the membership but it wasnt the same. In a way it felt pretty lonely questing even though there's all these other people playing. I made it through to the end of Mushu but ultimately cancelled. If they did make a classic server, i wouldn't mind giving it another shot but we'll have to see. p.s. love how you made that ratatouille reference, loved the movie and ego's face when he takes that bite is me whenever I hear the original Wizard 101 title theme, new music isnt the same either..

Man, slowly grinding levels while avoiding that paywall was the goat😭🙌 I did the exact same as a 10 year old I was just obsessed with this game and I got my little brother obsessed with it too. I didn’t get to have the true membership experience until my mid teens (15-16) when one of my grandparents that I was then living with agreed to pay for my account for a while. Then it was like an entirely new world for me, I was finally exploring the areas I had longed to explore and reach and I happily took off with the grind (although on a new account because my original one had my parents lost email attached to it lmao) I continued on that path for a while, even had a partner of mine later in my teens help fund my account cuz I didn’t have a job yet😬 and we both played and continued the grind together all the way past Avalon. After that I was finally able to pay for membership myself and I in fact did and then would turn it off when I got bored and wasn’t playing as much, to save money. I continued to to that over the years of my life and I ended up only really getting on to do gardening or help noobs in the ftp dungeons areas. Now here I am, a fully grown 25 year old, a supervisor at work and still loving this game so damn much… and am about to go turn my membership back on and push through Azteca 😭👊💪🏼✨ This game is amazing, thank you for making a nostalgic video on it my friend ❣️

The updated textures, music and replaced voices were definitely something to get used to. I even remember when our players used to scream when getting hit by spells 😭 so much has changed over the years

I remember pvping inside the arena in the area. You had to have a mark that let you teleport into the old arena because they blocked it off. This was like in 2014. If you lost you got sent to the commons.

One friend from wizard101 we actually became close friends outside of it. I remember he and i pretended we were both 18 when we met but later on we admitted he was 9 and i was 12. We are still friends and talk outside of wizard101. Im 27 now and ive started playing the game again with another friend i introduced wiz to.

I miss questing through Dragonspyre with new friends and defeating Malistare. It was such a big deal back then. I remember staying up late to get through many of the final boss fights. I miss messing around in pve, it made me so happy. Now pve is like wtf? I don't understand pve nowadays.

I completely understand the feeling I come from 19 years of wow and the feeling is completely gone there. Idk how but I ended up finally trying wizard101 a week ago and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this game. I hear a lot of reminiscing but to me as a new player I think this game is incredible but it’s the same with wow with new players all I can do is say how good it used to be and new playing saying how much fun it is.

I miss old practice pvp, I remember there were always so many matches you could join, lot's of 3v3's and 4v4's too. You didn't have to worry about your rank or tryhards, it was pure fun. Now practice pvp is pretty much dead, it's hard to find it and I don't see people for matches anymore.

Bro I remember playing wiz with my sister as a kid and hanging out with maxed out players in the haunted cave cause I didn't have money for a subscription. Now in an adult that can finally afford to buy one, it's sad to see a good chunk of the game so empty. Especially in worlds like dragonspyre which was one of the iconic worlds. I mostly ended up playing solo aside from teaming up with people. And unfortunately now that KI is with Gamigo. A company that has a reputation of mishandling mmos they acquire, I am skeptical new players are gonna come flooding in.

This was a great list but I do love the QOL updates the game had over the years. Been playing since ‘09 and I love all of the minor conveniences they’ve added to speed up gameplay with 15+ worlds now. This game still satisfies my nostalgia itch every time I log in. 🎉

I miss house parties. For the longest time I only got castles that had pvp arenas because i always imagined having SO many friends and just having fun at my houses. Even though back then i didn't have alot of friends. I still dont have alot of friends

i think a lot of what you talk about in this video is due to the maturing of the internet in general, and the average internet user. Since everyone playing older games now grew up on them, they already knew how to play; no experiences are novel. There are guides and optimal, meta gear. Also, people online are generally more hostile and cold, rather than trusting and helpful. This combined with the toxic online culture ruins the longevity of fun things like this.

Above all else I miss the game still being a big mystery. A lot of People who haven’t beat the game yet, playing tag in the commons, role playing, we used to have story telling sessions in the commons too just talking about our personal lives. Now everybody is VERY cliquey and rarely talks to people they don’t know. A few exceptions obviously but still.

Wizard101 today has stayed the same & also changed in many different ways. I loved old wiz too but I don't think it will come back but grateful for it when we had it. I remembered how Merle Ambrose looked intimidating but now he looks too happy & goofy for no reason. I liked the distinctive difference between a Pathfinder & a Fire Elf now they just look the same in different clothes. I kind of liked how the Pathfinder was almost like a bigger brother of the Fire Elves. I liked how cutsy the Fire Elves looked, idk why it just worked for me but now they look different. I don't care for that. As much as the new spell sound effects, animations, & graphics were better some of them actually improved sort of. I miss the spell animations and sound effects but the death animations for enemies were a bit like the worst acting I've ever seen. The troll wasn't so bad but when it died, it fell on it's back & kicked it's feet straight in the air. It made sounds of a dog snarling. Now at least the troll death looks better. The cyclops is much improved from it's old death animation where it holds it's chest & immediately falls to the floor as if a frame was cut in the most fake CGI heart attack ever seen. Those are few examples. We lost some things about the old wiz but we also gained some too.

Just subscribed and I agree, nostalgia plays a heavy role in retaining old players who want to get back into the game. played since the game came out basically and I was here and there in high school but still pro lvl; however, in college I had to stop playing so trying now to get back into the game its a little whonky getting with the new set up of pvp. I liked being able to pvp at any lvl now idk if i should quest or not and I have two accounts so questing not even an issue but i still don't feel motivated to do it cause 170 seems so far of a reach my highest is 130 death and that was max when i stopped, so yeah.... lol working on a my 103 myth with my balance (other account) so I'm finally doing myth school since it helps to keep me interested with stuff I haven't used/ seen already.

Wizard101 used to be fun i remember getting off school and hopping on with friends playing tourneys and on christmas spending time with fam then going into wiz and hanging out at house parties where we did tourneys and played the arcade games on haloween we had costume parties. Used to be a fun game but ki did not listen to the playerbase and they screwed up pvp now its not even worth playing and no one really reps they school anymore with the higher level doing dual schools. I tried playing for the first time in 6 years just to find out i couldnt use deer knight or my life squirell spells cause of some crap they added i remember spending hours grinding lore for deer knight and headless but on a positive pirate 101 has been doing good once pirate came out i enjoyed it a lot more it was fun just wish ki would let their devs actually finish working on pirate and stop pulling them and leaving stories half finished for years but new krok update gonna be lite

darkmoor gear killed higher lvl gear progression gears dont feel unique anymore, also farming lower level dungeons dont feel fun because you got a high lvl to join to carry you, they should at least at level scaling for dungeons

I don’t agree with the classic server as a lot of wiz 101 feels empty especially when you make it out arc 1 but they should definitely have a classic PvP for fun or even ranked PvP but with the classic rules no bans just mayhem best man wins
