Black American here 🙋🏿 *Marrying into the URHOBO Tribe & this was and is quite touching* Edited to say: Thanks for the Love 💕 2) I know this isn't Urhobo people. I mentioned #URHOBO to provide my affiliation. Just like I wrote #BlackAmerican. 3) I've visited Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Badagry, The Mainland of Lagos, Ikorodu to The Refinery and Epe and in-between (Dolphin Estate, Lekki, VI, VGC, ajah, Sangotedo, Awoyaya & more), Benin City, Sapele, Jos in Plateau State but not East nor Maidugari. In closing, I'm very proud of y'all for showcasing your culture. This is how we learn 🤩

Afrobeats is not a genre. It is a collection of a diversity of genres. You've probably been listening to the same set of artists that's why you think it is not diverse. I think the name is a lazy oversimplification which makes it hard to identify the different unique genres that some people so thoughtlessly lumped together.

This song has such a strong ancestral pull and I LOVE IT! We have run away from our roots, demonized our spirituality and looked down on our traditions for too long and I can’t explain enough how much I love that this song gives a nod to all of these elements! The first time I heard this song I didn’t even know it was done by a Nigerian but the pull was so strong, I love it even more knowing that it’s my Nigerian brother who did this epic masterpiece! I love this song so much and would I love to pick the brain of someone like Wizard Chan! he is obviously an old soul in a young body. Well done boss! The language is deep ooo (Okirika of the Ijaw clan) Tamuno, the supreme deity, the creator, created the world from mud. She has no husband. The lesser spirits are sometimes referred to as her children; she created them as she created everything else in the world. Tamuno is everywhere, and is associated with the sky, so “heaven” is another term commonly used to refer to the supreme being. Everyone has his own personal Tamuno, whom he addresses as “My Tamuno, my mother.” A person's Tamuno creates him by joining his spirit to his body, keeps him alive by maintaining the bond between the two, and brings death by separating them. Before a person's spirit is joined to his body, it tells Tamuno what fortunes it wishes on earth. This is accepted by Tamuno, and the wishes in it become the individual's personal So. Henceforward, as his So, these wishes guide the entire course of his life. Though a man's career is in the hands of his So, he does not necessarily know what this holds in store for him, and he may not always take the trouble to find out. Beautiful song
