The talk backs are my favorite thing. It's so interesting to hear the different perspectives of the characters. I actually have a completely different view on the relationship between Lucius Malfoy and Snape. I always thought Snape saw Lucius as a mentor and the first Slytherin to notice his talents despite being a half blood. It's unlikely they'd have a school boy rivalry as Lucius is at least 5 years older than Snape (Lucius greets Snape at his sorting with a Prefect badge on). There's also the lapdog comment by Sirius about Snape and Lucius. Though if Snape did try to usurp Lucius during Death Eater activities even if they had a better relationship, he'd still react in a similar manner as in your story. I'm excited for the next episode.

I’ve been wondering if Eileen and Tobias Snape would make an appearance? Just showing a glimpse of what Severus has to go through and why he dislikes muggles. It would be a good idea but you know I’m not the director lol

You guys are seriously awesome. Great work with these episodes. They definitively do not get all of attention they deserve.

That was really fun and illuminating to hear more about the Malfoys from David's perspective. I should talk to him more about that.

Always enjoy the talk backs. Love the parallels between Lucious Malfoy and Jamie Lannister. I can definitely see it. What do you think makes Lucious so ambitious? Many wealthy individuals born with a silver spoon are happy to have opportunities handed to them. I would argue that even Draco does not share the ambition of his father. He relies on the family name and does dark bidding out of necessity and expectations. This point is fascinating to me given that a major theme of HP is that the most successful people in life have to work hard (i.e. Hermione, Snape). Even Voldemort marks Harry as his equal over Neville solely because he is half blood like himself. I am excited to see how you evolve the Peter Pettigrew character to the cold blooded killer of Cedric Diggory. Do you think he always lacked morality? Shout out to Dwight Shrute!

I'm confused... When he said: "This guy - coming into my hall of power, who I have no respect for ...", was that Luthor or Snape? Also, I hope Abraxas Malfoy will make an appearance. I have always wondered whether he would be in favour of Lucius's alliance with Voldemort or not. At one hand, Voldemort use the pure-blood ideology to muster support, the same sort of propaganda the Malfoys has spouted for years. I think the peaceful, pure-blood society Voldemort are promising would be very appealing to a man like Abraxas, who after all were widely believed to have been part of this shady plot that in 1968, just as Voldemort was about to start his war, saw Nobby Leach, the first Muggle-born Minister for Magic ever to hold office in Britain, leave his post prematurely. One can only imagine just how much more difficult such a competent man like Leach would make it for the Dark Lord to rise to power, especially with a personal stake in the conflict. So Abraxas probably did this to help Voldemort. Or, maybe it was just his own agenda? Then again, if Lucius is like Jaime Lannister, then Abraxas would be like Lord Tywin. I can likewise imagine Abraxas having quite high expectations of his son and heir. As a scion of an old pure-blood family, things are expected to him, and as a Malfoy, I think Abraxas would insist the family came first. Maintaining their social status, veneer of respectability, their influence at the Ministry, their wealth. Already before Lucius became Voldemort's second-in-command, I always envisioned the Malfoys as playing the role of a pampered little prince holding court over his nobles in pure-blood circles. Like - whenever a pro-Muggle law is passed, one or more member from the Black, Nott, Rosier, Rowle, Avery, Yaxley, Burke, Greengrass, Selwyn and Travers families, and probably half-blood families clinging to pure-blood credentials, gather for a dinner party at Malfoy Manor to moan about it, ultimately looking to the Malfoys for a solution to their perceived predicament because of their family's influence in the Ministry. I can imagine Abraxas wanting them to maintain that position, and sort of disapprove of how Lucius are putting the family name and fortune in jeopardy by joining Voldemort, because what if he is caught by the Aurors? I mean - Abraxas, like all Malfoys, would have much influence in the Ministry and could probably call in favors from the higher-ups to secure his release the first time around, but what then? Rejoin Voldemort? And if he do, and is caught a second time, what then? Not to mention how Voldemort regard his followers as servants, I can imagine Abraxas furiously reminding Lucius "you are a Malfoy!" regarding Lucius' decision to place himself under Voldemort's thumb. Then again, Abraxas is old enough to clearly remember Grindelwald's rise to power and, heck, might even have been part of his innermost circle of followers, just like how Lucius would be in Voldemort's, but avoided Azkaban kind of like Lucius would later do. And by virtue of said experience, maybe Abraxas decides Lucius has no idea what he is getting into, and resolves to try and help Lucius to solidify his position on Voldemort's good side?

When are we gonna get Paul on the talk back?
@ninclow54215 жыл бұрын
Wait - Lucius always speak highly of Snape in the Ministry, to Umbridge, for example. Snape gives Draco special treatment. Narcissa turn to Snape as a family friend when Draco is given his mission to kill Dumbledore - shouldn't they kind of realize that; "Well - we're at the same side" after a while?

@@broadstrokespro Oh - I must have misunderstood you somewhere. I thought it sounded like Snape and Lucius would "decide to get along" but really dislike one another by the end of the story. Also - _will_ there be an Abraxas Malfoy in the story? ^^'

Waiting for the Episode 6 Talks Back. And for Episode 7, and the rest. I guess it's going slower than planned. Oh, well. One note on E5 - I though Lily Evans saying, "That man - I saved him" was a clunky phrasing. I could be wrong, but I don't see a nurse talking that way, other than to patients and families. I'd suggest "worked on him" or "tended to him", instead. "Save" has a self-laudatory sound to it. Just my 2¢, of course, and you can ask any nurse if I'm off target. Otherwise, I think it's absolutely perfect.
