watching this again made me realise just how much Hermione is put through during the series she is harry's and ron's bulwark during their grieving moments and often the subject of their misplaced anger she forces herself to make her parents forget about her so they'll be safe she sees countless people close to her and her friends die she is heartbroken by her closest friend when he snubs her out of jealousy she is forced to decide between love and saving the world/helping her friend survive the wrath of a terrible villain Hermione Granger is one of the strongest women and fighters I have ever had the fortune of reading about. At 4:28 when Dumbledore was pulling harry off of cedric, it just occurred to me that I never realised how much trauma harry actually had to endure. He lost his parents so young that he never even got to experience what having a mother and father felt like, spent 11 years stuck with people who bullied him and treated him as a burden, had to watch as a fellow student was killed when he was just 14, lost the only parental figure he had ever known- Sirius, Dumbledore and countless other important people in his life- Lupin, Tonks, Fred, Mad-eye etc and he was forced to battle the greatest dark wizard of all time when he had barely entered adulthood. Everyone was so preoccupied with the fame and attention that he received that no one once stopped to think what price it came at. He never knew his parents and no matter what anyone says about friends being the family that you choose and him having a wife and kids, he never actually had a real family and the bitter truth was that he never would.

Couldn't agree more. The movies skate over the trauma and pain to a large extent, but it's there in the books.

And one of the other things that I like about the series is that, even though the entire wizarding business is fictitious, Harry is a real character with real emotions and he's dealt with realistic problems in his childhood, unlike the books written about overly sheltered protagonists.

I love the fact that hermoine was not harry's love interest or vice versa. Its not necessary that two main characters should have a romantic relationship. They have the best friends relationship which is even better. It justifies the series as its a wizards story not love story.

That's not how it works Franzi. For example Albus had a Muggleborn witch mother and a Pureblood father and so he was a Halfblood. And Tonks had a Muggleborn wizard father and a Pureblood mother. So she also was a Halfblood. It doesn't matter if one of your parents is a muggle or a Muggleborn. If one of your parents is Pureblood and one of them has Muggle blood, then you are a Halfblood.

I see many people in the comments talking about that Harry and Hermione should end up together. Everyone has their own opinion and i respect that! Who knows? Maybe they would have been a nice couple but I dont want to talk about this. Harry and Hermione could have a lot of potential together. But honestly, their friendship is so pure and wholesome that a romantic one would destroy it. They cared about each other very much of course, but there's one thing that the relationship between Ron and Hermione that made them end up together. On the first three films they didn't get along very well. But slowly, things started changing. They felt jealous when the other was with someone, take Ron as an example and then later Hermione. I believe that their relationship evolved very much throughout the series and in the end, they built up the courage to confess their feelings. So, if yoy wonder why people ship Romione, here you have it!

They had an amazing love story. It was amazing because it wasn't perfect. It was teenage romance. There was jealousy and heartbreak. there was a whole jealousy competition in Half Blood Prince. Ron I think needed to go through his empty relationship with Lavender to fully realize that there was only girl he wanted to be with, Hermione. And at the end of HFB and the beginning of Deathly Hallows, they were basically dating, because they knew they liked each other, but the also knew it wasn't the right time to start a real relationship.
