The very idea of a film like Wizards made it into theaters is just phenomenal. Love Ralph Bakshi for pushing the boundaries of cinema.
@JayRidders Жыл бұрын
Yeah, screw those executives who meddled with Cool World for making Bakshi quit film. That’s what happens when artists in animation are taken for granted. Another example being Richard Williams, who worked hard on The Thief and The Cobbler for nearly 3 decades, but near the end of production, he was booted from the project, and it destroyed his career. As an appreciator of the arts with big ambitions, I dream of a world in the industry where artists’ works are seen not as quick money, but as true art, and that executives tamper less with the original vision of the artists, unlike what Calvert and Completion Bond did to Williams’ life’s work. As long as there are still people who view animation as art, these hopes for the future of the industry will live on!

1977 was also the year of "Cinderella", the soft-core musical version starring Cheryl Smith. With a black, gay "fairy godmother" and songs that are actually...great! Has to be seen to be appreciated. It was a different time for sure.
@bassplayer10 Жыл бұрын
It was a different time. My father took me to see “The Lord of the Rings” in the theater. I was 8, then again in ‘81 for “American Pop”, which nurtured the already growing need to rock. Taking me to see The Who in ‘82 (Chicago, 12 y/o) sealed the deal. He’s still unable to connect the dots and likes to criticize my pursuit of something other than money. What was i saying? Ralph Bakski. Brilliant.
