I received Eric Woolfson's POE the musical on dvd today and I am blown away by it, it's a shame that it never went to the west end! I have loved Steve Balsamo since 1996 when I heard him sing Gethsemane at the royal variety performance and every performance after he has me weeping with emotion and tears at the beauty of his voice. The best singer in the world WITHOUT question?

I first came across this gem in the video of Gethsemane. After that I’ve been a huge fan but seems he no longer performs. I would follow him everywhere. What a voice and the passion behind it, oh I tear up. ❤️

I’ve only found this musical recently on KZbin and after watching it, I’m convinced that Steve was made for the title role in Poe. (Immortal has become my favorite song in this musical.) I am blown away by how fitting, natural, innate, and effortless this was for him. The role had Steve practically written all over it. The songs matched his voice and range perfectly. Steve is wonderfully talented - I am so elated, impressed and such a solid fan now. There is no going back after this.

I know Steve and he was telling me that he shit himself with the raven on his shoulder when he did this as he thought it was going to peck his eyes out … lol .. he was very brave to this .. hes an INCREDIBLE vocalist and I'm proud to say that I know him .. check out his version of Gethsemane from J C Superstar (he was in the west end show) at Ahoy in Holland .. you will be GOBSMACKED!

One of my favourite APP songs and this is the best version. Even though Eric who wrote the song did an excellent job even he felt Steve sang it best and got the emotion, phrasing and technic just right.

I agree with JD. Although SB tried to go the pop route and did some nice things with the Storys it is hard for the type of buyer needed to succeed in that market to really appreciate the brilliance of his voice and moreover his genius as the entire package. Singer, actor, performer all rolled up into one. Most of todays artists don't feel what they are performing they are simply up there singing a song. You can tell from his vids that this is just not eho he is or wants to be. Thank god!
