Royal Parker has worked as a newscaster,children's show host and staff announcer in his long TV career in Baltimore. He joined WAAM-TV (long since WJZ-TV) in 1952. In 1962,he moved to WBAL-TV. Parker's memorable characters included Pop Lolly,Big Pud and P.W. Doodle. He also did commercials. After Parker moved to Eleven in 1962,Alan Smith was Thirteen's regular newsman before Jerry Turner took over.

Parker was just a substitute. As he mentioned before sign-off, Keith McBee was the chief news anchor at that time, succeeding Keith McBee and succeeded by Joe Templeton who was in turn succeeded by Alan Smith..
