Terrific video. So fun to watch. I played with some fast Karts on a few occasions with a guy (Tom Geerz, Grand Rapid, MI). He used to do shifter Karts around the US.. including Daytona. If I recall teh shifters back on the late 80's got up near 125 / 130 at Daytona. I watched them for a few hours in 1989. Seemed so slow from the infield. Your camera did a great job of letting the speed be felt. So jealous. I'm 60 now. He's gotta be 70+. Awesome job.

Sure it’s been mentioned but I’m assuming the speed was due to sprocket sizing. Were the slower karts a different class? Maybe canned exhaust? I saw no tuning in the beginning when race first started. Thing of the past? Used to race karts 40 plus years ago. Glad this popped up in my recommended. Not sure why, but cool. Without looking it up, not even sure it’s still going on here in SoCal air surrounding area. Many of the tracks here have become shopping centers or housing developments.

6:00 that was such a sick push, full send into corner. I would have been like, "Oh shit! I don’t know how to take this corner this fast!!" Almost like forgetting where you are and missing your break marker. That's how I think I would feel any aways. That was super cool though. I really like how you let the other diver back in after the push. I have no karting xp, but I would love for iRacing to figure out a way to make a model for leaning and sliding like y’all do. Can’t just put Karts into iRacing and expect it to feel real. It won’t and they would need to develop something different. You got yourself a new fan.

VR could be the solution
@MicahAlvarezRacing2 күн бұрын
Well I mean with the game/sim engine and physics. Maybe you do too. So the sim would need a way to capture users leanning inputs and somehow convert that into something in the game. Hmm might be with me doing a KZbin video about it and getting iRacing attention. It would be sick to get a real kart sim. Yeah VR would help translate that data to your mind but I guess the term we are looking for here is motion tracking input. Epic video.

In 2002 I drove a kart at Charlotte for the endurance race. If my memory I'd correct it cost 225 and that included fuel,tires and pit crew as they were testing new compounds and engine parts. The course was in the infield and we'd race 2 complete fuel runs and switch out. It was a 12 hour race and we had 3 drivers. A full fuel run was about 25 minutes or so, so we'd basically run 1 hour and get 2 hours off. I honestly don't think we ever hit 60mph but it was a blast knowing you just had to stay on the track and complete laps. I tried several other times but the spots fill up really quickly. The Charlotte Observer ran adds for it in the Classified section without a heading so it was also easy to miss seeing it. I wonder if they still run those Endurance races at the Speedway or did they finally end years ago.
