The funny thing is that it's the US who controls their border crossings, we don't control American border crossings, we control Canadian border crossings. The only thing that we can do about fentanyl is try to further screen things coming into our ports, but it would make no sense for a shipment to first come into BC, and then go down to California, when they could just ship direct to LA and have one less inspection.

There comes a point when we have to say enough is enough and stand up for ourselves. They've treated us like garbage long enough. Just look at the BC Softwood Lumber dispute, going on since the 80's. They impose tariffs, the WTO sides with us, then they impose more again. We're now at 81% tariff since August. 2 mills just shut down, and the industry has lost $10 billion since 2017 alone. And that's just the softwood lumber business... there's plenty more on the list where we've been shafted.

Dude... this is going to crush Canada's economy, and you're suggesting we wait it out. We do 76% of our trade with them... if they raise the prices on their shelves, then their citizens will just buy another cheaper brand, meaning our companies lose sales. Our companies then either eat the tariff by lowering their price enough to stay competitive, or people lose jobs, and companies shut down. Our own auto part manufacturers are saying that at 10%, they'd break even... but at 25%, it's not worth staying in business. This is going to affect millions of Canadians. It's also going to affect our GDP. This is coming direct from our people, not just talk on the internet. All this talk about how tariffs only punish the customers is complete nonsense.

There's other oil markets and Natural gas markets Canada is now looking at which could mean less shipped to the USA. Without Canadian oil and nature gas and Canadian steel, America will need to shut down steel plants. 1000s of jobs will be lost. Then there's Western Canadian lumber needed to re- build Florida and NC. F around and find is about to be real.

The US is the largest producer of crude oil, we produce 14 million barrels per day. Normal crude oil only costs 3 or 4 dollars a barrel to refine, but the Canadian tar oil costs 50 a barrel to refine, because it has to be separated with steam in a complex process. That 2 million barrels a day is not all being bought by the US. Alot of it is shipped to Houston and loaded on tanker ships and sold to other countries.
