interesting to see how little many of the breeds considered too extreme by modern standards have changed since 1960 (Pekingese, English bulldog, basset hound). and only a few seem more functional than what you'd see in the ring today, like the Alaskan malamute, golden retriever and OES - and even then the difference isn't very significant. goes to show how far back the obsession with extreme breed traits really goes...

Some of the Eng. Springers look like brittanies, collies same, that poodle coat was a mess, cockers, have more coat today. I liked the cocker. & Scotty.

I am a retire Alaskan malamute breeder form the 70's, and I can tell you the majorities of malamutes would not be a functional today. They have lost a lot. The heads are so extreme. They look like a cross between a mastiff and a chow.
