Amazing how a state trooper doesn’t know the law. You can have your gun on you without a CWP while in your car. Here is the full statue. 790.01, the restricted areas are in 790.06 and there are the same for permit holders and non permit holders at the state level. At the Federal Level it is prohibited to carry within 1000 ft of a school without a permit, however this is usually something not enforced by local LEOs and usually used as a tack on crime for other federal crimes, still important to know.

I would love to hear how and what is expected of people from other states, that Florida recognizes as reprocity (?sp). I am a PA ccp holder and try to be up to date on each state but some have small hidden rules that almost seem in place to purposely catch us breaking them. Is printing an issue in Fl? Are their ammunition or capacity restrictions? I really like your video and wish each state would do something similar.

There is no laws against printing in FL, and it is up to each individual to research the carry laws of each state that they plan on carrying in. Also they keep calling it "constitutional carry", but it absolutely is not. It is permitless carry & nothing more. The only way to keep your reciprocity is to maintain your permit, which I will continue to do.

@fastford727 I do try to keep up and do research before and even during travel but some states have crazy laws and others are very lax. One example, without mentioning states, you can go eat at an establishment that also SERVES alcohol but can't drink. (Which should never be mixed anyways, carrying and firearms) The very next state your not allowed to enter any establishment that serves alcohol. Ok, fine, but here's the kicker, if that particular restaurant happens to serve alcohol in any OTHER state, it is also off limits in their state, even though they do NOT serve alcohol, and your in violation for even walking in...if caught.

@@newinans Sure, I'll give you Texas as a long time resident and gun owner. We're a true constitutional carry state (no permit required for concealed or open carry however we do issue licenses which have benefits). Rules include: You cannot carry in a bar which derives 51% of its sales from alcohol, these are denoted by mandatory signs posted at the entrance that are red 51% signs (exception for law enforcement while on duty of course). There is a duty to inform if stopped (this means without being asked if armed), I generally go about this by keeping my hands on the wheel until an officer asks for my license/insurance at which point I will tell them "sir/ma'am before I reach for anything I do have a pistol at my 3o'clock my wallet is in my right rear pocket may I reach for it?" I do this simply out of respect if they see my sidearm because its close proximity to where Im reaching for my wallet I dont want them to freak out. You cannot carry while intoxicated in any way (only exception is in your own home). Licensed benefits: You cannot carry while unlicensed within 1000 feet of an active school whereas licensed you can carry up to the doors just not inside. College/university carry is permitted including inside buildings/dorms and classrooms. A Texas license does allow you to skip the NICS background check when purchasing a firearm. The simple gun crossed out signs aka gunbuster or "No Guns" etc signs do not apply to license holders only valid 30.06 (concealed) or 30.07 (open) signs similar to the aforementioned 51% signs are applicable. I can answer pretty much any question about these if you have any others these were just what I know off top of my head.

I'm confused, you said we just became a constitutional carry state, but we became a permitless carry state which there is a difference from what I understand. Something I was thinking about and came across your video and expertise. People who carry a truck gun in FL, generally an AR-15 either rifle or pistol. If it's in a zippered cased and in the back seat or under the back seat, would there be any issues? Things get tricky when you play with definitions and your rifle is considered a pistol and there are certain laws for rifles and certain laws for pistols. Loaded, unloaded etc.

In Iowa, we talked enough, then added our version of the 2nd Amendment to our state constitution, then permitless carry. Also, there are ZERO restrictions on carrying in our cars... loaded... open or concealed... on your person... loaded... with or without a permit, and we are NOT required to declare that we are armed if we encounter law enforcement. Oh yeah, and we can carry "concealed" IN OUR STATE CAPITOL (just declare to the State Trooper that you're armed before entering the metal detector). You CAN have a firearm on you, in a vehicle, without a permit….if you are eligible for a permit and just haven’t bothered to fill out the form, take the class and write a check to the state. Retention holsters are NOT legit in the scenario you have. It must have a snap. It’s a stupid rule, but my level 2 Safariland holster is not sufficient. We do have open carry in Florida in several situations, like on your way to/from hunting…camping….fishing. I also take issue with your blanket assertion that you cannot transport a firearm in the bed of your truck. Hunting, Self defense and recreational are not the only reasons to have, own, or carry a firearm. There’s my job requirement, or the original purpose of the 2nd Amendment, etc. Please get some more training in the law that you’re in charge of enforcing

I've lived in Florida since before this fellow was born, these are the rules from back then. Of course back then you have to do a favor for the local Sherriff (Like serving on his re-election staff) so he'd sign off on your permit. My vehicle is my property. Why does the government have any authority to tell me that i need to have their consent about protecting my property ? What country is the State of Florida in ? Is the State of Florida in America ? Does the God Given Inalienable right to the Second Amendment concealed or open carry within the Bill of Rights which restricts the government in the United States Constitution cease to exist in my vehicle ? Wait....so I can carry concealed walking around downtown but then have to take my firearm out of concealment, put it back into concealment via a holster or ziplock bag....or put it in the glovebox and not only show the thing to everyone but render it useless should I get carjacked on the way home......are you completely sure thats how this law is interpreted?

Amazing how a state trooper doesn’t know the law. You can have your gun on you without a CWP while in your car. Here is the full statue. 790.01, the restricted areas are in 790.06 and there are the same for permit holders and non permit holders at the state level. At the Federal Level it is prohibited to carry within 1000 ft of a school without a permit, however this is usually something not enforced by local LEOs and usually used as a tack on crime for other federal crimes, still important to know.

Unless you have your permit in which case you can carry concealed on your body in your vehicle, and you do not have to have it encased in your vehicle but it must always be concealed.

Level 1 is a passive retention holster. Thus, the shooter does not need to activate a lever, release a snap or push a button to draw the weapon. It is released by a firm tug. This holster holds the firearms snugly by friction. This is accomplished by having a tight grip on the frame as well as the trigger guard. this guy has no idea what hes talking about. don't take legal advise from a cop... the holster he showed is the definition of a level one holster. you know those screws you tighten down? yeah that's called retention so you firearm doesn't fall out when you bend over or run/job.....

First off that is incorrect, because of the new law passed, (Constitution Carry), there is no stipulation that says you can't be in your car carrying it.. the new law allows people who don't have a CCW to carry a gun on their person concealed... So i'm not sure where your getting this information, but you are allowed in the state of Florida To carry a gun on your person while your in your car, walking down the street, it walmart, what ever so long as you meet the requirements, such as you don't have any felony convictions.. You have no idea what your talking about.. permitless carry is the same rules as some one with a CCW license, nothing has changed, the only difference is you don't need a permit to do it.. Also you can Open carry in your car if your traveling to the shooting range or driving to the location to do your hunting or fishing.. Or if your driving back home from them acivities... You have no clue to what your talking about, not sure where you took your safety course to get your CCW, or maybe you didn't pay attention..

I was told, after training, that I shouldn't carry because I didn't have the internal ability to keep an assailant from taking it from me. That has changed. So we have to PAY $$$ the government to be eligible for Constitutional carry. Suey Cide by cop is a viable option for me. 2A is a DUTY against tyranny.

Licenses and permits are not required to exercise constitutional rights. Any state requiring a license or permit to exercise your second amendment is in violation of the Constitution. No state requires a license or permit to exercise your first amendment right, so why should the second amendment require that? Because, you know, "words hurt". 😂
