This one has one of my favorite jokes! It took me a few watches to notice it, but while Timmy is stacking the chairs and singing, he says his birthday comes every two years, which means that the kid is actually like 28 or something

This sketch is one of my all time favorites. My now-wife and I lived with this very devout Mormon family at the tail end of high school (we both moved out from our parents' houses). The family's son and I were pretty close friends and I showed him "Mountain of Chairs" . He thought it was the funniest thing and had a big smile on his face right up until the last line. When Trevor says "shine on you crazy Mormons" his smile flipped instantly and he was like "oh that's not cool". It was amazing 😂

That ending line literally is the joke that makes the whole skit work. Its like "Holy shit, this kids insane and the parents are horrible", then you realize theyre mormons and it all makes sense
@Mutantcy19923 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I never thought that was a weak point of the sketch at all, because the only thing that could tip you off to them being mormon is how timmy is dressed, but not everyone would recognize that. It just looks like a wealthy, abusive father, and you're like "wtf is he talking about poop being sin for" then it turns out they're mormons and it makes sense.
@Noplayster133 жыл бұрын
@@Mutantcy1992 Mormons think poop is sinful?
@Mutantcy19923 жыл бұрын
@@Noplayster13 No, it's more just the mention of sin. They could have made him a fundamentalist Christian and it would have worked just the same, but the fact that he's rich and there's a stereotype of Mormons being rich, Mormon made more sense.

For being a presentation of subject mater... I just think I really appreciated the crass-undiscipline of what you speak to people, and the more bigoted it seems, the more you actually need to think about the reality of what some people subject people to. It hard to hone in on what's wrong with society, when it acts and reacts very sporadically in its individuality, and if you care for other people's horror, you care to know more about the basis of where this sketches humour really comes from! I'm still as impressed, maybe more, as I was horrified into nervous laughter and respect, when I was a kid. 10/10 for certain minds, maybe some points deducted for craftsmen with uncomfortable bias.
