Well, I have begun to immerse myself in the WKUK journals (aka videos), and they are wonderful. I was sad to discover that one member of this illustrious group, Trevor Moore, aka the local sexpot, is now spending time with THE Walt Whitman. Thanks again for introducing me to WKUK.

They’re one of the best and funniest satirical comedy groups of all time, in my opinion. They go very dark quite often, and they’re sometimes goofy (usually both), but it’s always apt commentary on society…or total abstract nonsense that makes you laugh so hard you can’t breathe.

I recently came across this channel due to you guys reacting to WKUK. I'm such a huge fan of Trevor Moore. He'll always be my favorite comedian. Even as a woman, I find him hilarious and I'm never upset by his jokes or his sense of humor. I love it so much!! RIP Trevor Moore, you'll be dearly missed. Would highly recommend watching "Whitest Kids U'Know Miss March Auditions - Sam". To promote a movie two of them made, the cast filmed a series of shorts where the other cast members auditioned to be in the film. This one always has me rolling laughing.

Actual Walt Whitman was gay and he somewhat cryptically celebrated being a gay dude in his poetry in the 1800's. That took a lot of nutz. He was friends with Abe Lincoln. He visited wounded Union soldiers in hospitals during, and maybe after, the Civil War. He wrote 'Leaves of Grass', a poetry collection loved by me and many others. He thought the U.S. should take Mexico so nowadays dipshit 20-somethings, who don't know their asses from holes in the ground, say Walt was a racist and therefore shouldn't be read. I don't think they would understand him anyway. They think poetry happens when a young person gets on a stage and whines and complains about being oppressed. They call this shit 'slam poetry'. They don't know how to think but they've been told what to think. They don't appreciate the contemplation and subtle thinking necessary to seriously read poetry. Maybe Walt was a racist. I don't know, but he did enthusiastically support a war and a president that freed black people. I don't think he was obsessed with boobies, but then maybe he was a bit attracted to ladies as well.

It's so amusing to me that out of all the possible poets they could have used to make this joke, they picked Walt freaking Whitman! Who, to my knowledge, is a prominent figure associated with LGBTQ+ literature and is debated to have been gay, or at least to have written homoerotic poetry about love between men. Like, I don't know if that was intentional or not but it definitely adds another layer of irony to this bit either way. 😹
