to my health journey! My name is Katherina, and I am documenting my journey after undergoing Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y surgery on December 22, 2022. Follow along as I share my experience and progress. From my highest weight of 356 pounds in January 2020, I've been determined to improve my health and overcome conditions like diabetes, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, and endometriosis. As a stroke survivor, I'm committed to preventing another one. I'm a proud mother of two boys and a stepmother to a wonderful young lady, and with the love and support of my family, friends, medical team, and the strength from a higher power, I'm dedicated to conquering my food addiction and overcoming binge habits. On this channel, I'll share both my struggles and successes, hoping to provide value, motivation, and encouragement to those facing similar challenges. Join me on this journey to achieve mental and physical well-being. Welcome! In this video, I discuss my sixth month after Gastric Bypass Surgery, providing insights into my weight loss progress, inches lost, and the foods I consume during this post-op stage of my journey. Being 6 months post-op is a transformative experience, as the body adjusts and the results of the surgery become more apparent. The initial weeks after surgery can be challenging, with strict dietary guidelines and the recovery process. However, as time passes, you'll witness significant weight loss and improved overall health, reducing the risk of obesity-related diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Katherina, I'm so happy for you. I was sleeved in October and have been losing weight kind of slowly. I'm also hypothyroid and taking medication for it, so thanks for mentioning that as I was perplexed as to why I wasn't dropping the weight as fast as some. Slow and steady.

@@SD-ts7eb Awe thanks for checking up on me. Truly appreciate that. So my surgeon ended up doing the gastric sleeve instead of the bypass because my liver had not shrunk enough. So when I awoke and made aware, I was bummed out as I had my heart set on the bypass for many reasons. One being I battle rough acid reflux on occasion already and I hear the sleeve can sometimes make that much worse. My hope is it won't though. My surgeon did say as I lose weight my liver will shrink more, so he said if down the line I do end up having increased acid issues then we can discuss doing the bypass. That said he truly believes I'll have just as much success with the sleeve. He said he is super happy with the results. When I awoke from my surgery I was in a lot of pain. I was very much out of it as well. They had to keep me in recovery for hours as I could not stay awake. I just remember feeling deep regret that I put myself through this. Eventually when I was more alert they were able to move me into ambulatory care. They felt closer eyes on me would be helpful as I needed quite a lot of pain relief and they were concerned about me. I have a very high pain tolerance, also birthed two children naturally, also covered in tattoos, have piercings, etc. I am not trying to scare anyone from these surgeries, just sharing my experience. But by around 5am the next morn I was walking on my own up and down the halls. I was going pee on a regular, and already starting to relieve gas build up. Tmi sorry lol. They let me go that very next day at around 4:30 pm. When I got home I had a rough sleep, hate sleeping on my back lol. But also needed regular pain management. I haven't needed any pain management for days now!! So happy about that. Also another tmi but I been passing stool now which is a big success too. So far I am just walking around my home as they directed not to overdue it. I also have been keeping a diary of my full liquids intake and clear liquids to show my bariatric dietician when I have my first follow up this Friday.

@@SD-ts7eb I have been having a wild ride with my emotions. I have two little ones ages 11 and 8 and they are also a big part of why I did this and I keep trying to tell myself this everytime I battle my emotions. It is not an easy battle, no quick fix either, but certainly helpful if you follow what needs to be followed. Much love to you.

So happy for you. The non scale wins are so important! Just changing your relationship with food and cravings alone is worth it, even before you count the weight loss!

@@thistothatlife surgery went well. I really missed side sleeping for a few days! Slowly going through my food progression and so sick and tired of protein drinks. At week 3 I am not to have them again and I can't wait. I see so many people with their "proffee" drinks, etc and I'm like YUCK why would you continue those. LOL!
