Great video Mikael. Those wl toys cars do look good for the money. The buggy could do with better tyres to get the power onto the ground. I enjoyed the jump compilation. You really bashed the heck out of those cars. Looked like you were getting some good control in the air with the Traxxas. I know it does feel good when you get it just right. I can't remember if I told you but since the fire I got a HPI Firestorm Flux. Really nice handling and simple 2wd fun. Bit like a Tamiya Blitzer but tougher. I haven't broken it yet. Would recommend. Will be a video of it once I get more sorted and have a pc to edit with 😀
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Good to hear you got a working RC to enjoy in the midst of all the tragedy, Pete! I remember watching a lot of videos with The Firestom at some point. Looks good and handles good. And the flux’s always look fast. Would love to see it in action. Hope you will get some from the insurance to help build up your hobby room again. Yeah, it does feel good when you get the jump right. I do not jump my Tamiyas much, and since those are the ones I do more running time with, I barely get any practice. This time I really didn’t improve, because of switching between two cars all the time. But I remember another time when I was at this location with the MERV only, and the more jumps, the more better landings. Once you start getting into the rythm and the feel for the particular car, it gets easier and easier. Really fun actually. With practice, the MERV provides good air control. The WLToys weighs too little for long jumps and just spins and flips around in the air randomly :-)

Thanks, my friend. Yeah quite durable, although the landings in the soft grass/dirt also helps quite a bit. Think the light weight of them both also helps. Even the bodies and wings did good. I'm pretty sure the way those 2s lipos we're hooked up would give you a longer runtime, not more power, that's how it is with any other type of battery, not sure about lipo
@NordicRC5 жыл бұрын
No, it actually gives more power (not voltage but more amps) with more mah too. I thought it was weird the first times I tried it out, as the general rule is that parallel (+mah) gives you run time and series (+volt) gives you power. But +mah gives additional power too, if the ESC and motor allows it (a 60A ESC cannot draw more than 60A for an example). You know the c-rating (discharge rate) is important? Well, the mah works together with the c-rating. For an example if you have a 25C battery with 2,2A (2200 mah) it can deliver max. 55A (25x2,2). If you have a 25C battery with 4,4A (4400 mah) it will give you a max. of 110A (25x4,4). I learned that this year here on youtube :-)
@RobertNES8165 жыл бұрын
@@NordicRC Think of it this way. More Amperage will give you more tourque output and more voltage will give you more speed. The Higher capacity will be able to sustain the amp draw of the motor for a longer time thus allowing it to be "fed" the power its trying to draw. With a lower capacity battery the motor is being choked a bit.
@SlyNine5 жыл бұрын
Power is power. No matter how you get there. But running a battery past is C rating is hard on them. Take horsepower vs torque. This is a worthless comparison because torque is a function of hp.

Yeah, this was actually just a test, tightening the springs, to see if it would help. But yes, it didn’t help at all cause the ride height was raised so much. But it’s the same problem with the springs more lose (check out my other videos with it). Basically it’s a common problem with it that I have seen in many tests/reviews. Some have improved it with harder oil but I guess this model also just requires ‘getting used to it’ and softening up the turns.

Hello. Modern American full size "Monster Trucks" suspension is yet to be built by any r/c hobby vehicle. The full scale vehicles use swing axle suspension on both ends of the truck, with sets of 5 Nitrogen shock absorbers for each wheel. Current jump is 204 feet I believe. So Traxxas and all the others have lagged behind full scale vehicle technology. BTW, I love those Nordic athlete women. In the lodge, 'apres ski?" Cheers, from North Texas, U.S.A.

No sorry, it won’t. And it’s easy to see/feel/hear when a car winds out, and less distance than here can do it easily. I think you read the box all wrong before you commented. It says 30 mph (48 kph) with stock 7.2v NiMH battery. Here it did +50 kph with a 7.4v LiPo. To reach the 50 mph (80 kph) it very clearly specifies you need two 7.2v NiMHs connected in series to a total of 14.4v. Sorry, single 2S (7.4v) and 2S in parallel (also 7.4v) as in this video is no where near 6S NiMH in series (12S NiMH, 14.4v).

@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Saitama. I make mistakes too. If you watch my first videos with the Mini E-Revo, you will see that I mistakenly believed I had it hooked up in series (first time for me with two batteries) and quickly, by a good friend/subscriber, I was corrected and informed I had it hooked up in parallel :-) So one lives and learns in this hobby. That's the great thing about youtube. One learns fast :-) Congrats with your A959! I actually have a new video series comparing the A959 with the A959-B. The B-version is a lot faster yes, but my (personal) conclusion is that, for anything else than speed and and speed tests, I actually like the standard/original A959 better. More control, less motor/ESC heat, longer run time. For the everyday run, for me, it's just a lot more fun. Faster doesn't always means funnier, in my book :-)
@cosechanegra18806 жыл бұрын
@@NordicRC yeah you are correct, the only thing that i don't like with the wltoys a969, is that the gear is not of very good quiality and i had to change it twice. But for the price is a very good rc becuase like 2 years ago i bought the dromida sc4.18 or somthing like that and it cost me twice as the wltoys and it wasn't better than the wltoys. And now you have a new sub.
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, Saitama, for the sub. Welcome on board. Yeah, heard a lot of folks having issues with teh WLToys gears. Luckily metal gears are available cheap. I haven't had any issues with mine yet on all my WLToys, but I suspect it's just a matter of time.

Yeah, this one was fun to make! Still working on my DF-03s, my Bigwig broke down so I’m reassembling that one, and then I can get to the electronics for the Levant and Leonis. So much to do for a Tamiya fanatic :-) Got all the parts ready for a WT/WR-01 project too now. And then there’s the DT-03 project and a couple of NIBs waiting too. Ha ha, always behind with the Tamiyas :-)

christopher coconis Ah, about the Bigwig it was expected and according to plan. Got a second hand original BW which came with a brushless system, so wanted to see how far it would keep Holding up - Nearly all a-arms have been switched to the re-release now and working on the gears. They messed and I found a plastic bushing in them schredded to pieces. I wonder who puts plastic bushings in a brushless powered car :-)
@christophercoconis25756 жыл бұрын
Nordic RC Visions Wow had to replace all the a arms and plastic bushings with a brushless system😱 That's crazy bud....Well glad I got you interested in those buggies they're awesome platforms.. The Baldre will be getting a much needed going thru soon after I finish the other 3 Tamiya's the whole car except for the chassis has been upgraded to the Carbon reinforced plastics..So it will be getting a DB01RR or RRR chassis with aluminum upgrades plus real Carbon Fiber shock towers and other bits if still available.. The Manta Ray will be going full carbon fiber as well with a lot of high end Tamiya goodies 😊 The Blitzer is going to get my idea of a MS Version with couple of surprises!!

No way that revo is that slow on 4s , maybe you couldn’t really punch it without wanting to flip
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
It’s not 4S but 2S so that’s why 😉 2x2S in parallel is not the same as 4S (like 2x2S in series). That’s what I learned from more experienced LiPo-users last time I myself called 2x2S in parallel for 4S, he he. Voltage stays the same as a single 2S but just like an increased c-rating it can give you a discharge boost in amps, which will result in higher performance/top speed.

OK with 2 nims u can hit 55 mph with the mini revo so ur Loring about the top speed or not giving it full throttle
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
You got it all wrong, buddy. There’s a huge difference in setting up the batteries in parallel or series. This was a 2S LiPo test, so they where set in parallel. The +50 mph requires 2 x 6S NiMH in series and you can even get beyond that with 2 x 2S LiPo in series (4S) though Traxxas doesn’t recommend it in their specifications.
@bloopsh68696 жыл бұрын
Nordic RC Visions ya but still I don't use my mini revo in parallel or series I run a 2500 25c 2s and I clock mine in at 45
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Then you got the fastest stock MERV vxl of them all. It’s officially specified to 30+ with the stock battery, and a fully charged 7.2v NiMH (over 9v) is not much slower than a fully charged 7.4v LiPo unless it has a high c-rating. But sorry that I only have one that is close to the official specs.
@bloopsh68696 жыл бұрын
Nordic RC Visions I'm no trying to fight just trying to help some people out because I have had my fair share of experience with wltoys there parts support and build quality is crap yes its a nice beginner car but spending that extra 100 to 150 bucks on a rc car that has very good part support and u can go to every hobby shop and get parts to me that means it's a good rc wltoys does not have thay
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Oh, I thought we where talking about the top speed of the Traxxas and not the WLToys. Well, like I said in the video in the very beginning (to avoid confusion): Don't take it too seriously :-) It's not really a serious competition and one can't really put these two up against each other. They are totally different. And top speed is NEVER an indication of which car is best. Some of the models I like the most, are definitly not the fastest. But I like both the WLToys and the Traxxas. For very, very different reasons. And I've had great fun woth both of them. For very different reasons. Hope this clarifies the purpose of the video.
