(WMATA Metrorail) Yellow Line Returns to Service

On Sunday May 7th 2023, WMATA returned trains to service on the Yellow Line, running between Mt. Vernon Square and Huntington Station. The Yellow Line had been shut down for the past 8 months to allow for the Yellow Line Bridge and Tunnel Rehabilitation Project to take place. This video is a compilation of trains along the Yellow Line, with bonus clips from the Blue and Green Lines. What you’ll see in this video is mostly 3000- and 6000-series train sets, and occasionally some 7000-series sets from the Blue/Green Lines, as well as some 2000-series railcars. Also included is a pass-by of the new Potomac Yard Station, which is scheduled to open on May 19th. I hope you enjoy this video and welcome back the Yellow Line.

It’s interesting that they are running so many 8 car trains. Also car 3000 is a nice spotting. I rode that one on the blue line from rosslyn to Franconia Springfield I think.

Great that the YL is back!!! Bummer it is only going to Mt. Vernon Square though for the foreseeable future rather than Greenbelt like from april 2019 to september 2022, even with more Green line trains. Hopefully once more 7ks get back they'll reconsider or the FBI goes there
