Jezus, that was a great video. I saw it a number of years ago, but with more experience now, I understand it better. Thanks for sharing it.

just screwed with this idea for an hour, I don't know why I never tried syncing the modulator before. Really awesome!

Thank you very much for this. This kind of 'basics' in modular creation is much more interesting (for me) than single module videos. I don't have a DVCA, but I'll try it with two STO's and standard X*Y really ringmod tomorrow.

More videos like this, LIVE patching!!! Would really help the adoption of modular. So many people need to see live patching ideas. From people who can produce these quality videos!

I've shied away from Ring Modulation ever since hearing the effect on the DR 202 sampler. Just ear scratching trash, like, why would anyone do this to themselves?! You've totally demonstrated a legit usage here. Definitely gonna try to get something happening using the Mutable Instruments Blinds. Thanks for sharing!

I was in the same boat haha. I still have my 202 and know exactly what youre talking about. After using AM and RM in some hardware synths and complex oscillators I also thought it wasn't for me but diving into sync'ing the oscillators and making a voice out of it I had a lot of fun. This video definitely isn't your "classic" use of the technique but it was cool to learn and figure out how to make it mine. You mentioning the DR202 makes me want to do more experiments though with samples and the classic implementation as an effect.

@@WMDevices I dont have much in the way of oscillators that can sync and clock... but I was inspired to fiddle around, and ended up using Tides2 at audio rate as both a voice, and into the Marbles Clock to use its various outputs as AM/RM source. It was in sonic territory I'm not used to but really cool and interesting stuff happened. So thanks again for real. Id definitely be curious what you come up with re:202 ... cause I still cant imagine what on earth folks used that for in a musical way. cheers!

What brand are the white cable, they are WMdevices?
@WMDevices3 жыл бұрын
They are Luigi's Modular cables. They are no longer in business but you can find some of the cables on Reverb still. thanks.
