In SoCal in 1976 as part of the US Bicentennial Celebrations, local grade schools were given field trips to Disneyland and special tickets to get on "patriotic" attractions for "free". Remember that at this time, ticket books were the norm, not the one-price all access as it is today. I remember that trip at 10 years old in 5th grade like it was yesterday. Nine years later, I started as a cast member in Entertainment/Parades and lasted over 8 years. I remember crying during the finale sing along to Auld Lang Syne in its last days in April 1988. This is the original with the "Who shot that hole in my sombrero" with a Mexican accent -- it was quickly changed to a vague US Southern accent soon after it debuted...

I was at Disneyland on the day of the 50th Anniversary. One of the shops on Mainstreet had a machine that allowed you to select the "soundtrack" of older rides and attractions - the ones that weren't there anymore - and record it on a CD. I was thrilled to find this one available since it was a favorite of mine as a kid. There was a problem in getting it done and the lady helping me apologized because the printer seemed to be low on toner or ink so the label didn't print too clearly. It was still legible and I was too thrilled to get a chance to buy this I didn't care. I play this every Independence Day. BTW: I looked for and asked about the machine on my last trip to Disneyland (spring '19) and they told me they didn't have it any longer.

After all that mess it did end up to be alot of fun.
