It upsets me to see people that have no right move into someone's home which they worked so hard to acquire a decent home so others can come by and take possession. This is where I would wind up with a gun to get these rats out of my home. I am serious. That is why I don't want my half-brother, who is deadbeat to move in because he may know the laws of the squatters. Also, don't need more aggravation since I supported my mother and her deadbeat son. In fact, I should have moved out at 18 but half of what I earned went to support these people. God help me but it is hard to forgive family that leaned on you forever. What I mean I had to provide funeral cost for my mother and later my older sister. So, I am happy most of my siblings have passed away. I don't speak or talk to any of my relatives. Why? I don't need for any of them come to AL to hound me anymore at my age 77. I recently learned that my 3 siblings wanted me to support them after my mother died. I had just got a divorced due to verbal and physical abuse and taking on "AGAIN" family members I would not be able to survive this time. I still working to take care of me as I have done when I was young girl and don't need problems because that is what I know of my family. NEVER wants to work but leaned on those that work hard to have a decent place to live in. That is why I won't condone squatters - I would probably make sure I have a pistol and a good security to keep squatters off my property.

I've been around people like that -which feel it is their right. Believe me I agree with you. Only problem is I wanted to move out but it took almost 12 years to finally set things in motion because my parents wanted a "free ride" in life without working. If I knew they were that selfish - I would have gotten Welfare to set my mother up instead of her bringing her trash of a husband #4 to live which he also was a deadbeat and a pedophile which I had to deal with that piece of shit when I was 14 years old. I should have kicked his ass out of the house, but I set the mood when he exposed himself to my girlfriends back then. God, this is why people that are ignorant and lazy won't do to help their family out but make things worse. I know that type of squatters who feel it is their right, but they have none since they won't work.

This was 9 years ago. I hope LAWS have changed? This should have always been against the law. So let's see you move into a empty home, pay no mortgage, rent & utilities, because these people havevillegally moved in. And now these people are required to be formally evicted, etc.

I hate to say this, but it hasn't. Please don't allow friends or even friends of strangers because that is how they come in and take over. At Quora, I've heard of people having their lovers and they won't budge, and they get a restraining order on the owner by showing their mail goes to that address of the property, so the police won't evict them. Be ever careful doing a good deed - believe me -my folks cost me money for years but at that time I was naive. Later learned not to be fooled by them anymore.

I will tell you that society in the South has gotten so bad that even those fast-food places they don't want to work at all. They give wrong change, don't care about how their lousy disposition is - which when I was young I busted my butt. I even worked two jobs so I could save for a car but had to hide my money from my nosy younger sister who had the audacity to steal from me from money to clothes. I tried to help her by giving her a copy of my high school diploma and still behaved badly at the job which took its toll by getting fired and it looked bad on me for recommending her. I NEVER did it again. People that are lazy won't work and refuse to listen to what you tell them to behave on the job too.

They make life miserable for people who purchased their own homes. This is not like the 60s or 70s, but it seems people are more brash and aggressive in taking over homes even rental properties too if they can do it - they will.
